For our family, this worked out well as our two boys (12 and 16) had their own space with their own bathroom and we had a separate space with our own bathroom. "This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The present owners have upgraded in various ways, including adding in-room air conditioning (we didn't need, but it was nice to have the option), retrofitted bathrooms, kitchen, wiring, and similar. "Rick and Katy are straight forward to deal with, providing lots of insider information on out of the way experiences on The Big Island. The view from the common area where you can enjoy the healthy breakfast that Rick and Katy provide is peaceful. The veranda is a perfect place to watch the two goats playing in the yard.
