"Pros: Nice location away from the city, backed up to a lava field and ocean. Clean, comfortable, basic beach equipment included. Cons: No ocean swimming within walking distance. Loud frogs at night, recommend earplugs. Can hear upstairs neighbors walking around. Notes: No dishwasher, oven or TV. Cook top doesn’t get very hot. Geckos find their way inside but keep to themselves."

"We had a positive experience in every way! The location is wonderful - just 10 minutes north of downtown Hilo in a quiet neighborhood safe for walking. Spacious, clean and well stocked home with washer & dryer that we could use. The owner was kind and helpful. Close to a beach side park. Good price for the amenities. Cool breezes throughout and a great view of the sunrise and ocean! Very very Nice! We even heard some lovely live guitar music coming from downstairs one time. Great neighborhood."

"The house was a roomy older house, conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown Hilo. Overall, the house was terrific. The only drawback was the shower stall and showerhead. The shower flow was insufficient. A hand-held shower head would be better!"

"We enjoyed our stay in Hilo. The apartment is the ground floor of Ingrid's family home, and has its own separate entrance. Having been to Hilo before, we didn't feel we needed a fancy tourist vacation destination lodging location, for a place to stay. So a simple and homey place, that was part of an actual home, in a suburban neighborhood, worked fine for us. It was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The location near the southern edge of Hilo makes getting out of town easier, when heading out...

"We only stayed for 3 nights, but Karla's place was in the perfect location for exploring the East Coast of the Big Island and Volcanoes National Park. Karla met us when we arrived and introduced us to her cottage. Her pride of ownership shows both in talking with her and also in all the little things about the cottage that made staying here very convenient and comfortable. She has a notebook that she prepared with menus and descriptions of all the local restaurants, locations of grocery stores,...

"We liked the stay so much last time (21') that we hunted down the property for our visit this year. The layout is really nice for two and has everything you'll need. Hosts are great as well, very friendly / approachable. Final notes: LOVE the outdoor stove for cooking and the hot tub is a treat after a long day of exploring the island."

"This was the perfect house for us. We especially loved the separate bedroom for our son to stay in. It was a fully stocked kitchen and a nice grill so we cooked in every night. The hot tub was great too! Mindi and John are wonderful hosts with top notch communication. The location was perfect for exploring the National Park and surrounding areas. The pictures just don't do this place justice, it's way cooler!"
