Night Heron 62- 3 bedroom 2 bath Cottage with Lagoon views

Night Heron offers privacy while still being close to all the amenities that Sea Pines has to offer. The main floor features a renovated kitchen, living and dining room, primary bedroom/bath and bedroom/bath also located on the main floor - each with a Queen size bed. On the second floor there is a loft which has two twin beds, ideal for kids looking to have there own space. It is accessed by a spiral staircase. The deck features a great view of the lagoon and trees surrounding the cottage, high top table with four chairs and a gas grill.
Sea Pines has it all! Three championship golf courses, bike trails, numerous shops & restaurants plus the famous Harbour Town Lighthouse. Walk, Bike or Drive through Sea Pines and you can explore some of the best sights on Hilton Head. The activities include, Lawton Horse Stables, Sea Pines Forest Preserve with 605 acres, South Beach Marina, Harbour Town Marina, and The Sea Pines Beach Club just to name a few. Endless bike trails will take you anywhere you desire within Sea Pines.

Property was dated and marginally clean. Shower liner on bathroom was moldy and shower bar was rusty. Baseboards looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Sliding doors to deck were difficult to open and need replaced or majorly updated. Drawer under the oven falls off when moved. Outlets in the master bedroom were difficult to get to and should be updated to allow for a USB connection for charging phones. The door under the house where the trash cans are doesn’t shut. The furniture and TV were all very good, but the house itself just looked dated. We’ve stayed at 3 other Night Heron homes over the years and, in comparison, this one was just a little disappointing.

Overall okay

Communication with the property rental company was excellent, and we appreciated the 250 credit for items such as beach chairs, bike rentals, etc. The property is just a ten minute walk to the beach via a paved sand path, which was easy even for our four-year-old.The property was as described, a good size for our family of five (children ages 11, 5, and 4). Hilton Head Prep is located 100 yards from the home, so you’ll hear children throughout the day, not wasn’t a problem for us. There is a pond between the home and the school, home to at least two alligators, but there’s no need for concern as the home and porch are elevated at least 10 feet off the ground.There were two downsides to this property. First, the cleanliness was not ideal. We spent at least 30 minutes on arrival wiping down surfaces and sweeping. While everything that didn’t need to be moved was clean enough, the areas under the beds, side tables, and in the closets were unacceptable. Additionally, we couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was causing it, but our five-year-old, who has sensitive skin, would break out in hives every time we were in the home. We stripped all the sheets, pillowcases, and blankets to wash them and placed a clean blanket over the couches and chairs. This seemed to help, though she went through almost a full bottle of Benadryl in five days.Secondly, the home seems to have poor or no insulation in the roof. The second floor would get very hot, making it uncomfortable at times.

Great location - short walk to beach, less than a mile to beach club and close to ocean gate. Plenty of closet/dresser space and hangers. Partially renovated, but very small bathrooms. Both showers could use replacing nicely renovated, but very small kitchen. In need of a deep cleaning. Despite being a pet free rental, furniture was covered in pet hair. Management company quickly delivered a brand new vacuum as unit did not have one available.

great location the shower curtain in the shower was too short, leaked all over al through the floor. the floor needs repairing, The need a straight not bowed rod and longer curtain other than that the place was great!

Overall a very nice place and location. The online pictures are a bit deceptive in that it looks much larger than it really is. Very well equipped and could use new shower curtains as the one bathroom contains mold.

Perfect Location!

We love the Night Heron location! It’s so close to the beach, great for bike rides, outdoor activities, etc. Our only complaint was cleanliness. The house definitely needed a deep clean. Dirty floors, cobwebs, some bugs. If it weren’t for that, we would definitely recommend the property.

Needs maintenance!!!

The location and layout of the house were perfect for us. The house itself needs a lot of work. We mostly ate in and found The kitchen was very poorly furnished. The roof was leaking in the dining area when it rained and lots stains on the walls indicated this was not a new occurrence. The grill was very dirty and had no gas which was disappointing. One sink in bathroom was hardly draining when we got there. Not the typical Vrbo home we are used to.

Good location, house needs updates

We really enjoyed the location of the house and the “swap” out back. Kids enjoyed watching the alligators. Close bike ride to the beach. Beach at this location was less crowded. Can bike ride to Harbor Town and Coliginy beach. The house itself needs some maintenance. Smelled like mold and mildew. Water stains on walls in kitchen and bedrooms. We did find a few spiders but being close to the water it was not a surprise.

Needs Repairs

While the location was ideal, the property needs some maintenance. When we arrived they were fixing deck planks that were rotting, the handicap rail in the shower broke, and the microwave handle was broken and the bathroom needed painting and caulking. We stayed in this condo in 2014 and it was in much better shape then.

My favorite place to stay!

My family and I stayed at 62 night heron. The beach was a short convient walk. Very quiet and friendly neighborhood. Our back deck looked over the lagoon where we were able to see alligators, flying fish and turtles! I would recommend renting a bicycle and take advantage of the bike paths!

Adorable beach cottage, nice coastal vibe, very short walk to beach. The unit should have been cleaner. The quality of linens and towels could be better, as well as the kitchen essentials. OK for a very casual beach stay, but otherwise disappointing.

The cottage is in a great location in Sea Pines, short walk to the beach, and property is located on a lagoon with great views of alligators. Neighborhood is quiet. Property is very close to pool. Everything was in working condition. The posted pictures falsely advertise the condition of this property. The cottage is very dated (couch, dinning table, comforters, musty smell in cottage), although the kitchen and flooring seem to be new. The worst part of the property was the creepy crawlers. The first night we found a huge "water bug" in the bathroom. A sign posted on the fridge makes it clear that these bugs are a fact of life in the south and are common, which leads me to believe this is a common complaint. Aside from the Palmetto bugs, we had lots of spider encounters, some of which were in our beds. Talk about causing paranoia, especially with having 2 small children in the rental. We actually left our vacation 3 nights early due to the unwanted visitors. The management was understanding and did offer a refund, or alternative properties for the remainder of our stay. In September a review was posted regarding the bugs, unfortunately at that time we could not cancel our October vacation. I would expect the spiders if we were camping in tents, or it would have been disregarded if only one was seen, unfortunately this was not the case. Looking at the property, it is evident where they are entering the home. I offer this review to save families from the hassle that we went through. I would recommend searching alternative properties.

July 4th beach rental

The communication with the property manager could not have been better. They were very responsive to our calls and the check in process was easy. Unfortunately, we could not get the dryer to work after the cleaning crew replaced the filter incorrectly. Also, the air conditioner failed during the last night of out stay. The property manager quickly dispatched a crew to replace the thermostat and fix the unit, but it was inconvenient. The unit overall was clean, but old. There were a number of spiders in the unit, probably escaping the rain, but we had to kill a number of them. The location was fanstasic, close walk to both the beach and the pool.

Security

The front door was extremely difficult to lock from the inside and outside. Door handle was very loss. Called the management on Sunday when we were leaving. She came in 30 minutes and just told us we had to wiggle and jiggle it to get it to lock -felt unsafe about it. Clothes washer did not spin all loads we did. I emailed management before we left home because of the reviews the property received concerning the washer. The management stated that nothing was wrong with washer which was incorrect. We will never rent from that company again.
