Escape to the unspoiled beaches of Figure Eight Island and enjoy the panoramic views from the Tree House.

You'll be on the highest spot on the island so nothing will obstruct the breath taking 360 degree view of the crystal clear blue ocean, white sandy beaches, intra-coastal waterway or the beautiful sound filled with wildlife. You can enjoy fishing off the private dock which located behind the cottage.

Easy living is what figure 8 is all about.There are only single family homes on Figure 8 and nothing commercial. It is only 3 miles to shopping & restaurants. This way you have the island to yourself, no crowds, no noise except the waves lapping the beach or a bird singing.

What a location

We have never stayed at Figure 8. The treehouse was right across the road from a public access to the beach. We had the beach all to our selves. Bunnie was the ultimate host. House was one of the original houses on the island It is a mainstay

Magical Treehouse

Our week at the beach with my favorite people was spent in this magical location. Figure Eight Island is so serene and peaceful and the Treehouse captured the whole island. The views were remarkable. The beach access path being so close was convenient for our family of surfers and sunbathers who had loads to carry. Bunnie was friendly and accommodating when minor issues arose. We made lasting memories during our stay at The Treehouse.

Great week at the Treehouse!

Weā€™ve been coming to the Island for over 30 years , but this was the first time staying in the Treehouse, and it was quickly a crowd favorite. Loved the view and layout of the house with easy access to the beach right across the street. Bunnie was a great host, and I would highly recommend staying here.

Roach infestation, mildew

Multiple issues with this property: 1) Listing stated it had a hot tub. There was not one. When we asked the host, she said there has never been a hot tub. 2) On Friday the evening of check-in, we noticed multiple roaches in and outside the house. We immediately notified the host. She stated that an exterminator was not available until Monday. After they sprayed on Monday afternoon, the problem was much worse on the inside of the house. While watching TV in the main room at night, we would see multiple roaches on the walls and ceilings, many of which would be dead or partially dead on the floors the next day. Overall, the house seemed like it had not been cleaned in a while. 3) There were torn sheets and stained towels. 4) There was a generalized mildew smell in the bedrooms with mold/mildew stains on the ceilings in multiple bathrooms. Could be related to host not allowing thermostats to be set below 72 degrees. 5) VRBO was fantastic in assessing for health and safety issues and helping resolve our dispute with the host over a partial refund

Another wonderful week at The Tree House

Seven college friends stayed at The Tree House last week, our second year of holding our annual reunion there. The house has lots of bedrooms and beds so that we could all have our own space. It's a comfortable place but at The Tree House, it's all about the amazing view. The ocean is there to see, but the star is the marsh. And the sunsets! We ate all of our dinners at the outdoor table on the deck and agreed that there is no better scenery on the island or in the area. A magical place to take a vacation.

We stayed at the treehouse for a wedding on the island - it was so spacious and comfortable for eight people. Owner was communicative and accommodating, and the property was just as expected. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend!

Serene beach week

We had a wonderful stay in the Tree House. The house is truly surrounded by lush landscaping that gives way to gorgeous beach and sound views. We highly recommend sunsets on the side porch! The path to the beach is directly across the street and since the house has a cart and chairs, all we brought was our umbrella. We had some unique requests while we we there and in preparation for the trip and Bunnie was superb. Would love to stay again sometime.

Amazing week with loved ones!

We have rented close to 20 properties on Figure8 Island. This is the first time we have stayed on the Sound. The beach is right across the street and the views were breathtaking. Bunnie is responsive, but not intrusive. We love to swim in the ocean and spend time together as a family. This was a perfect home for our 2 year old granddaughter and all the adults who wanted to cook and play games. Thank you Bunnie for a precious time! We will be back.

Great location with easy access to beach and best views of both beach and sound. Nice deck, living area and kitchen on top floor but could use additional seating to accommodate a family of 8. Need better lighting in living room for readers - two outlets near the couch sparked when lamps were plugged in so we were afraid to use them. Internet was spotty at beginning of week and then went out completely on Wednesday morning. Owner had it repaired on Thursday midday. Overall bedrooms/bathrooms were fine but tired. Bedroom near front door had bathroom with peeling wallpaper, bad lighting and weak shower head.

Beautiful house and location on gorgeous private Figure 8 Island

I stayed at the Treehouse for a week during the end of July with six people. The island and the location of the house are pretty amazing. We often had the beach completely to ourselves and getting to the beach was just across the street and down the beach access. There were plenty of beach chairs and some boogie boards to use stored in the garage. The views from the 3rd floor which is an open kitchen/living room/dining room common area in the house are in fact 360 degrees and there is a large deck with grill just outside on a large deck. The sunsets over the sound are beautiful and I could also see my family on the beach in the other direction so it is quite nice. We never felt the need to leave the island. The kitchen is very well stocked with way more cooking utensils, glasses, cups, dishes and pots and pans than any normal family would ever need. Dishwasher, ice machine, washing machine, worked fine. Everything was clean including a large sofa and snuggle chair. The house when it was build was no doubt an architectural beauty. It is now seeing its age and woodwork on cabinets and porcelain in bathroom sinks are worn. I think as long as you realize that it isnā€™t like a brand new hotel but rather a family home that has some history then you will enjoy it. The beds were all quite comfortable and sheets very nice, plenty of basic towels. I think it would be nice to have had a floor plan of the bedrooms/ bathrooms/ closet space on the first and second floors so that you can make decisions ahead of time about which rooms are best for adults or kids etc. Two identical size rooms have two queen beds and big walk in closets and attached baths. One small room has two twin beds with bathroom across the hall shared by the master bedroom with a King bed and attached bathroom. Another small bedroom has two twin beds and very large bathroom and directly outside a smaller TV family room on the first floor. It took us a few days just to figure out where the washing machine was (on the first floor in this family room) and how to turn on all the lights in the living room and outside areas. The host was very helpful and provided much information that was not on the listing. I very much appreciated that the host had a cancellation policy that was very reasonable, the deposit was refundable up to some point and the final payment was not due until two weeks before. Given the complexity of organizing a vacation for six adults, this was one reason I choose this house

Perfect, just perfect!!!

The property us everything that's listed and more. This home has beautiful architectural character. You literally have a birds eye view of the Sound behind you and the beach in front. You are 30+ feet up and over the trees that surround the property . Easy access from the property to the beach with just a very short walk to the Beach Access. When pulling up into the driveway of the property, you can feel the magic of The Tree House. Because of a sudden medical issue, we had to cut our two week vacation short to only one week. Since we had Trip Insurance we are able to get the funds for our lost week back. The owner (Bunnie Bachman) has gone above and beyond to help navigate me through the Insurance Claim process. Its not easy. I cannot thank Bunnie enough. I truly give this property a 10 Star Rating!

Tree house with views

The views are everything in this older property, but the owner is very responsive to problems and questions. There is an elevator which is definitely needed for people with mobility issues as there are 4 floors. Because the house is on a rise, you can see sunset over the intercoastal marsh, and on the other side is a nice view of the beach and ocean. The house has some older appliances and the dishwasher struggles a little, but itā€™s not a big issue because of the beauty of the views. There was loud construction across the street during 5 days of our stay. House should be finished by end of 2022 though. Still, we enjoyed our stay. Bunnie will answer all questions and give recommendations for eating out etc We would return again.

Beautiful views

We had a great stay at the Tree House. It's a property that has been on the island a long time, and is one of the highest if not the highest point on the island. From the deck you have beautiful views of both the marsh and the ocean. It was tough to decide which way to turn your chair! We would rent again.

Another great visit to the Tree House

This was our second year at the Tree House. We just love the house, the beautiful views of the beach and the marsh, and the peacefulness of Figure 8 Island. The host was especially helpful and flexible this year when our trip was delayed by the Colonial Pipeline hacking gas shortage. She was also accessible throughout our stay to answer any questions.

Eat, love, swim

I took 3 of my grown kids and my 4 grandkids to figure 8 for Thanksgiving. We had the best weather and were able to live on the deck of the treehouse with its amazing views of the marsh and the ocean. We ate a lot, loved talking, laughing and being together and we swam. We didn't wade, we swam! We flew kites on the deserted beach, dug deep big holes with the help of my daughters dog and found shells to treasure. We cooked together, played spit and uno and told stories of Thanksgivings gone by which we always celebrated with all of my 40 person extended family. We opened the sliding glass doors for the breeze and the sound of the ocean and could see sunrise and sunset every day. I watched the egrets stalk the marshes and the pelicans fly right over my head on the deck. It was a wonderful trip, a great house many memories to carry me through the winter.
