"The cleaning and dining staff was very friendly and helpful. Some of the check in/front desk staff was extremely helpful and others were completely clueless. Luck of the draw. Overall the staff kept the place clean however the hotel itself has seen better days. The lobby intermittently smelled as if they had a sewage backup and our room has a very musty/moldy smell to it."

"Old motor lodge that has been updated. Its clean, basic motel. Tight.parking but plenty of it. Pool and hot tub worked as promised. Friendly dog at the desk too!"

"The manager of the property was amazing. They also have a ferry shuttle that will pick you up and take you to the dock and back to the hotel which was amazing!"

"Room was clean enough. But definitely needs to upgrade. We had a CPAP and had to unplug a lamp to use it. And put coffee maker on floor because the cord wasn’t long enough. No microwave. The man in the office was very friendly"

"Great location for walking right across the street to Armstrong ferry. They are dog friendly. We had a small dog and paid a $25 dog fee. Our room needed some love but was just fine for sleeping. We may have been given a dog friendly room so it may have been not as well kept as others. The lamp cord looked chewed on and some of the headboard lighting didn’t work. Would stay again for a stopover but nothing more."

"Nothing can be blamed on front line staff when it comes to this disgrace of a hotel. This is a matter attributed to owner/management. The rooms were in a horrible state with stains on the floors, carpets, etc. The bathrooms, plaster, and fixtures were rusted and falling apart. Breakfast was disgusting and consisted of a picture of Fruit Loops taped to a plastic dispenser, an unplugged waffle maker, along with a coffee and juice dispenser, both of which weren’t functioning. "Not what pictures portray. Living in Michigan my entire life I think all of mackinaw city has depleted in cleanliness and price gauging. We booked a “superior room” which means nothing like the photos. We were told it’s just a standard queen with a water view balcony. The room was so dirty.. mold in the shower on the ceilings, stains on the sheets, filthy lampshades. "The room we stayed in was clean, just basic. We stayed at the budget inn and they make it very clear through the booking and on the lobby door of the budget inn that you checkin/out at the Thunderbird Inn next door. The rooms were basic and felt equal to the affordable price we paid. The pools were not open but it was a cold memorial day weekend trip. I got to bring my dog for only $25 for the whole 4 nights. "From the outside it looks like a nice place, the room was clean but there were ants in the bathroom. There was a fridge in the closet but no microwave, the room was dark as there is only one lamp on the nite table. The room is sadly lacking ac outlets and no lamp near the table. We have never seen a coffee pot like the one there, when you pour the coffee it leaks out over everything, also there was only one pack of coffee, we had to go ask for more. "Worst stay ever. The room had a strong unpleasant odor, and the heater was not working properly. Despite the cold weather, the room never got warm enough, making the stay very uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the shower curtain and curtain rod were already broken when we arrived, which showed a lack of maintenance and attention to basic room upkeep. Overall, the hotel did not meet even basic expectations for comfort and cleanliness. I would not stay here again."
