Light-filled cottage in garden oasis. ❤️ of island

Little Red Cottage is a masterfully designed tiny home ideally located in the heart of the island, minutes from shops, restaurants & the beach. Prepare breakfast in a sunlit kitchen & dine at the window bar overlooking peaceful, lush gardens. Re-energize yourself after exploring the island by taking a nap on the window seat or bask in the sun on the private deck with a good book & a cup of coffee. Also, just so you know, we have tried to be environmentally friendly with a waterless toilet.
The space
We wanted to keep the environment in mind when creating the Little Red Cottage so we have used repurposed building materials and furniture throughout the cottage as well as installing a top-of-the-line Swedish composting toilet. Though just 400 sq. ft, the spacious feel will wow you: it has a well-equipped kitchen with coffee (from our local roasterie) and tea provided so that you can enjoy a lovely cup at home. There is also a refrigerator, freezer, stove-top and microwave enabling you to prepare some meals in. In case you would like to dine out we have provided a list of restaurants and coffee shops for you to experience here on the island. Warm yourself by the gas fireplace as you watch your favorite shows on the smart tv, or let your writing juices be inspired at the antique writing desk looking over the beauty and serenity of the garden. Also we have provided a high quality mattress, fine linens and your choice of pillows hoping that you can come and rest well while you stay with us. We hope you enjoy our yard while you sit at your cafe table and chairs out on the private deck or by enjoying the hammock in the orchard.

A true oasis

This really was an oasis. Beautiful light-filled cottage, immaculate, surrounded by soft green and flowering bushes. But still close to shops, restaurants, grocery store. A fantastic place to unwind after daily classes, which is what I did. The toilet is different but once you get over the concept it works fine. The internet wasn’t strong in the morning (for reading an online newspaper) and possibly at other times so check with the owner or provide your owner if that’s essential to you. It wasn’t to me. Great bonus was delightful, sweet golden retriever who lives in the main house and visits!! This place is peaceful, grace-filled, and sweet.

Lovely stay

The Little Red Cottage was a sweet break on Vashon. A good deal of thought has gone into every aspect of this little place. Before we went, a friend offered a recommendation that I failed to get details on. It turns out, she had stayed at the Little Red Cottage and loved it as well.

Perfect for a week on the island

The cottage was lovely and very clean. It had everything I needed for my solo trip on the island for a week. The hosts communicated quickly and were very kind. Safe neighborhood. The house in on the property of the host but you still feel like you have a private place. The best part of the rental was the precious dog Maya who greeted me every morning at the door.

Cozy Red Cottage

This little cottage is a real find... and was perfect in every way! We loved all the special touches within the cottage ...the choice of fabrics/paint colors/personal touches with paintings/and art. The kitchen was wonderful and had everything anyone would want or need to prepare a meal ...The composting toilet was new to us - but absolutely did what it was designed to do and do it well! And the upstairs bedroom was also just great... the bed was very comfortable and provided a really good restful sleep. We will return again ... and were grateful to find this gem!

Great Stay

Small but really nice & well maintained. Stayed during a over a week of temps in the 20s. Once I figured out how to light & run the the little gas fire place I was warm & cozy. Some people might not like the composting toilet but I was fine with it. Hosts were VERY responsive.

Absolutely horrible!

I left after 10 minutes of being here and VRBO promised a refund and I am still awaiting it. There is no comfort here. The bed is as hard as a rock. There is no comforter and it’s only a hard, old quilt. The bed itself is hard and has no pillow top to it and no mattress topper. Much worse then motel 6… there is no tv in the bedroom and that is the only place you can really hand out due to the fact that the couch is not even the size of a love seat and has no arms on it…. They need to get a Roku tv for the bedroom, a mattress topper and a comforter for this place or it’s not even a place I could spend one night in. I highly recommend. The owners make these changes as VRBO promised to refund me the entire stay yet I am able to review this. I should have been cancelled out entirely which is what was disused with VRBO. I still expect a full refund but this home should have been placed back on the market with the suggested changes made. All VRBO’s should have mandatory requirements such as comforters, a mattress which is not second hand hard mattress from the 1990s. And if the bedroom is the only room that you can actually hang out and then he should probably have a TV or something to make people feel like they’re at home. VRBO promised me that they would talk to the owners and refund me entirely because I only stayed for 10 minutes and had to leave because I knew I could not stay the night here.

From the moment we arrived and met Maya, we knew we were in the right place! Everything promised was delivered and the little red cottage was our perfect home away from home while enjoying the no hurries and no worries way of life on Vashon. Beautiful property and perfect for our needs

My husband and I stayed here for one night while visiting friends. It is on a beautiful property and the small cottage had everything we needed. We didn't cook, but there are items available. I really appreciated the pour over coffee maker and creamer in the fridge. The toilet is something new for us but we figured it out quick and it wasn't an issue. I'd stay here again for sure!

Delightful Getaway

We got in pretty late but we were able to still check in easily. Communication was very timely and didn't run into any problems. For as small as the cottage was, the space was not congested at all! Would definitely come back and highly recommend if you're looking for a romantic vacation!

Charming private cottage

We truly enjoyed our stay. The hosts were great at prearrival communications. The property is private and beautiful. Attention to details included fresh cream for coffe in the morning. We were greeted every morning and afternoon by the owner's beautiful and friendly golden retreiver, Maya. Highly recommend, and to give Maya belly scratch. :)

The little cute house

The little house is cute and nicely decorated, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning. We were surprised that the Toilet without flashing system, the bedroom was noisy as it is by the street, then the last surprise is that we never saw the Host during our two nights of staying instead of the friendly Dog, Maya.
