This airy, single-level home sits on the ninth hole of the Sea Ranch Golf Links, offering guests immediate access to the Salal Trail, the Del Mar Meadow Trail, and the oceanfront Bluff Trail. You'll be one mile south of the beach and whale-watching spots at Gualala Point Regional Park, two miles north of Walk On Beach, and two miles south of the galleries, shops, and markets in downtown Gualala.

An ideal escape for a romantic getaway, a couples' retreat, or a family with grown children, this home is also just one mile from the Del Mar Recreation Center, where you'll find a heated outdoor pool, saunas, and two tennis courts.

Step into the foyer to be greeted by lofty exposed beam ceilings, tile floors, and a beautiful chandelier that adds a sense of occasion to your trip. This entryway opens into a bright and modern living room, where you'll find two sitting areas with plush sofas, soft white carpeting, a chinoiserie screen, and even a baby grand piano to provide a soothing vacation soundtrack.

Grab a newspaper at the Surf Market in town each morning, and relax as the morning fog retreats. Plug your iPhone into the sound dock, use the free WiFi to stream your favorite playlist, or choose a book from the shelves and savor the morning quiet.

Move into the full kitchen to grind some fresh coffee beans, heat up the waffle iron, and get a head start on a delicious homemade breakfast. This well-equipped space has a center island, two sinks, and appliances that include a stainless steel refrigerator, double ovens, and a dishwasher. Sit down to eat at the dining table for six, and open the surrounding glass doors to let in the crisp ocean breeze.

Take a morning stroll along the Bluff Trail in search of whale spouts, and return home to soak in the sunshine on the patio. This wrap-around space offers lounge seating and gorgeous views of the ocean below, as well as a gas grill and a small table for casual lunchtime barbecues and al fresco dinners.

Grab your bathing suits from the private washer/dryer and spend an afternoon or two swimming and playing tennis at the Del Mar Recreation Center. Back at home, you can relax in the living room as you catch a baseball game on cable or choose a DVD from the library to enjoy on the flatscreen TV and Blu-ray player.

With two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, this Sea Ranch home will sleep as many as six guests (but it is more comfortably furnished for four). The sunny primary bedroom features a king-size bed, doors that open to the outdoor space, and a private bathroom with a tub, a stall shower, and a bidet. You'll find a full-size bed in the guest room, as well as a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room.

Additional amenities include one more bathroom with a shower, a study with vintage couches and a small collection of books, and a landline phone for local calls (as cell phone service can be spotty in the area).

As one of the best-kept secrets in Northern California, Sea Ranch is a community of architectural wonder, incredible natural scenery, and complete and utter tranquility. Fill your days with long walks on the Bluff Trail, rounds of golf at the neighboring Sea Ranch Golf Links, and a bit of whale-watching at Gualala Point Regional Park just one mile north.

Great location. Comfortable layout. Good views and good access to trails. Very dated in furnishings. New flooring needed, sliders very difficult to open. Second bedroom bed poor.

Interior looks like a movie set. Could be more functional. Most of the furniture is for people with long legs, seats deep from front to back. Had to use pillows from bedroom for back support for my short legs. Loved the huge tree outside, and deer and fox in the yard.

Curtain in main shower broken so neighbors have clear view…OLD full mattress rather than queen as advertised..When open door to bathroom and it hits the toilet. Have to sit side saddle to use…Toilet paper roll is behind back…Master toilet sits facing an old bidet(?) Very odd…Master shower took almost 10 minutes to get hot water…Master bedroom screen door to patio is laying down, broken…MANY light bulbs don’t work, so it was dark…

Attractive home from the outside and patio was well-located with view of the ocean and golf course. Unusual "feng shui" layout. One bathroom was tiny with the door bumping into the toilet and one bathroom was extremely spacious. The bedrooms were likewise; one very small and one expansive. Unusual no lamps at all in the home with only wall mounted LED minimal lighting. Adults recommended only as there is a large piano and pure white carpeting. Entryway was huge with a crystal chandelier. Kitchen appliances need servicing or upgrade...the cooktop kept turning off and the oven knobs don't all work. The master bedroom bathroom toilet keeps running for 3 to 4 minutes after flushing...also may need service. Otherwise, the home's location offset the unusual layout and questionable kitchen appliances.

It was "OK" with positives of proximity to the Bluff Trail and ocean view and closeness to Gualala. However, the furniture is outdated/terrible, particularly the dining room chairs. And the Philips TV and Dish and Blue Tooth had no instructions and virtually impossible to use. A funky front-door key/lock could be greatly simplified and improved. A little gardening could have made the entry way pleasant, and of course a view of the Pacific Ocean through clean windows would be wonderful. Otherwise... Amazing there was not one spoonful of sugar or any oil/vinegar in the entry house, but three (3) large cans of salt. Go figure...

Fantastic location, great kitchen, views! …would love to see new mattresses. King bed is okay, the full in the guest room needs updating to quality queen. Pull out sofa is what you would expect. We’ll stay here again

Clean, spacious master bath not a lot of dishes for eating and the operation of working the dvd and tv took a little time to figure out how to operate. Should have some written instructions on how to operate. The location is very quiet and close to the ocean . Also should have proper cleaning sponges for cleaning frying pots and pans. Plain sponges don’t work for scrubbing. Nice outdoor seating area for enjoying the ocean view.

Family member lived on Sea Ranch years ago. We decided to revisit. Enjoyed our accommodations and Whales Tales was everything it said it would be. Views were amazing and a serene experience.

After driving a few extra miles to retrieve our check-in packet, we could not tell from the materials we received what was the code to enter into the lock box in order to get the key for our unit. When we tried a set of numbers that was not identified as the lockbox code, it did not work. We called the local number that we were given. No one answered. We called the Vacasa number, and were placed on hold for about 12 minutes. Finally, a Vacasa representative gave us a four digit code, different from the six digit code we thought was the lockbox code from our packet. It worked. This all took more than 40 minutes. Quite frustrating after a long drive.

We had a nice stay here but would have been nice to get in before 4 pm. There were a few things and lights in non-working condition which was annoying. The view is great!

Very comfortable home (but the white carpeting was challenging). Location was great. Kitchen had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. Lots of deer and the area and is not crowded. I have never been disappointed in Sea Ranch.

Location is the primary reason for renting this property. Excellent partial view of the ocean, less than a minute to the coastal walking path, and 5 minutes to town. The common space is terrific: light and airy, high ceilings. The same is true of the master bedroom, but the second bedroom is much smaller and darker than it appears in the photos. The beds and linens are just adequate and could do with updating. The kitchen is mostly functional (water/icemaker not working) with basic cooking utensils, but little else -- no s/p shakers, spices, foil, plastic wrap, napkins, storage containers, only two thin tea towels. Those things are cheap to provide but can make such a difference! Other things need repair, updating, as well. As another reviewer noted, the windows need a cleaning, but everything else was clean. However, our experience with Vacasa has always been good -- they are always quick to respond to problems.

We had a nice vacation in this house, the location and size of the house are great. A few things could be improved to make it perfect: this house needs a real deep cleaning, including windows (screen and tracks due to multiple spiders every time we opened the windows), we had to wash several dishes and towels upon our arrival. Other than that it is a nice and quiet location with great views.

We enjoyed this property a great deal. Location is close to bluff trail and golf course and has a nice view of the ocean. Electric stove in the kitchen only had a couple burners working; lighting could be better in the master bedroom; and door to second bath opens right into the toilet - but overall we give it a B+. Good value for the area, comfortable home with outstanding location. We hope to return. (Frustrating to have to drive into town to get the welcome packet. It's a hassle that is put on the guest instead of the property manager which is unfortunately common these days).

We have stayed at this property before and like the home and the location. What we were disappointed about though - it was not thoroughly cleaned (carpets vacuumed but kitchen/dining area not swept. And all the windows could use a good washing - the most excellent views were all obscured by what appeared to be weeks/months of neglect on the part of the cleaning crew.

Love the location of this home, fantastic view and easy access to the trails in the area. Comfortable furnishings and spacious master bedroom and open entertainment area make it very nice! There is a white wall to wall rug in living area which seems unusual for a rental but it was recently cleaned and we were careful! The fireplace isn't available as noted in other commentary, which would have been nice if it had been. The only issue we had was an invasion of tiny ants that raided the kitchen area! Thankfully the management had insect soap spray available and later came with ant traps. It slowed the march but they were persistent until the weather changed. The kitchen was well stocked any pots, pans and whatever. We limited our cooking due to the invasion, plus we were visiting friends in the area anyway. The management team were especially helpful when we locked ourselves out and later when I left something behind. IF it wasn't for the ants this would be a 5 star.

The proximity to the beach for view and access is great. The amenities in the house are below average and everything (furniture, decor, appliances, etc...) is completely outdated. The cleanliness was okay. I’d come back to Sea Ranch again and I’d use Vacasa again but I wouldn’t stay at this place again. I hope that helps....
