"A very charming hotel. It was like a trip back to the 15th century. Large bedroom with ancient furniture style, very clean and working fine. The pub and the restaurant area creates an ancient atmosphere and the food is just excellent. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Great location, just beside York Minster. Good value for money. That is the place to stay if you want to feel the ancient York."

"Very old property with an antique charm. Our bedroom was very well taken care of. Our only complaint would be the bathroom being a little narrow and damp. But these are things that must be traded off for when considering the age of the building. Its proximity to the Yorkminster made it very nice and easy. The food and drink as well as food service was very good. Servers and bartender were knowledgeable about the drinks and gave us good advice when it was needed."

The place was family run and everyone we encountered was brilliant, all working together & multitasking, like a well oiled machine. "We took a spontaneous trip to Malham Cove for a night away. This lovely hotel is down a quiet country road 1/2 a mile from the cove and near to several other pubs and cafes. The building is very old and reached over an old stone bridge or the beck (stream) Parking is available and the room was nicely furnished with views of the water and a very comfy bed.
