The A-frame styled home is near new construction. It is set on a larger lot backing right to the state game lands, fronted by a small outcropping of older homes. There is a thin tree line which separates and provides a decent dose of remoteness.
It is not far off the main roads, making for a easy trip to and fro if you need to venture off for those forgot to pack items. The property is easy to find with GPS guided directions.
The setting is gorgeous. We took a few hour walk up the trail to explore. With an ATV at your disposal, you could go wild. I looked for local ATV rental options but nothing.
The house inside is nice, clean and well equipped. There are board games, books and material about the local area. Plenty of towels were provided. The laundry room is great. The kitchen was full of utensils, plates, cups and things likely to find in any kitchen. The fireplace created some nice atmosphere (firewood already inside, provided) and took the chill off the morning. Plenty of open space. The bedrooms are large, upstairs and down. The bathrooms are large, as well.
Hot tub is excellent. The grill, smoker and griddle are a treat. Pack up your ingredients and plan on cooking! Each morning were pancakes and bacon on the griddle. Our plans did not allow, but to bring a pork shoulder, some steaks or something else to grill/smoke for dinner would have been fun. There is a fire pit area, too, we did not get to enjoy (yet).
The huge back deck with the Amish built chairs, tables and bench accommodate outdoor feasting handsomely. Landscape lights and a string of bistro lights really make for a great nighttime outdoor experience.
Within an hour drive are many attractions unique to the area. I hope to return and have a chance to visit them (No. 9 Mine and other mine tours, amusement park, Centralia).
Highly recommend. Matthew, the host, was responsive. We have plans to revisit.
