Welcome to Vandy's shack, we love it and know you will too!

This gorgeous retro beach shack is located at Mount Dutton Bay on the Lower Eyre Peninsula and is absolute beachfront. Generations of our family have grown up, holidaying around this area and we have so many special memories. It really is the perfect holiday destination for couples and small families with everything you need for a shack holiday vibe with all the modern comforts. Guests refer to Vandy's shack as a hidden gem.

Guests at Vandy's shack don't leave disappointed - please check out the reviews. Vandy's shack is right on the waterfront and the high standard of accommodation is clean and very comfortable. Included in the price, we supply all linen and towels so that you are truly on holidays!

There is lots to do at Dutton Bay. Relax at the shack or use the kayaks to explore the waterways. The bay holds all sorts of fish for the fishing enthusiast. Dolphins and kangaroos are regularly spotted from the shack and the bay holds a variety of birdlife. Go for walks and enjoy coffee at the Dutton Bay Woolshed. The community at Dutton Bay are friendly, relaxed and casual. Vandy's shack is central to many other great locations including nearby Coffin Bay, Farm Beach, the Coffin Bay National Park, Coles Point and Greenly Beach. Port Lincoln is only 40 minutes away. Vandy's shack is the ideal getaway for a couple or small family!

Vandy's shack is a modernised, waterfront beach shack offering all the modern facilities you could need. The shack has two bedrooms. The main bedroom contains a queen size bed and has great sea views. The second bedroom is large and contains a queen size bed and a bunk bed. This bedroom also has great sea views. The lounge room contains two comfortable lounges, and a TV with built in DVD player. The kitchen is clean and functional with most modern facilities. There is a large modern fridge and freezer unit and the shack is air-conditioned.

Outside there is a large seaside deck with sun lounges for relaxing days. Out the back is a protected entertaining area with outdoor furniture and a large BBQ. Use of the two kayaks is included free when you stay at Vandy's shack.

Pets are allowed by negotiation.

Beautiful

Very clean beautiful lol cottage by the water very relaxing eating oyster and glass of wine at the front, excellent facilities for small family even though it was just my Mrs and I, but the owners have everything there to facilitate our needs.

I’ll start by saying that we’ve been travelling for 7 of the last 12 months and have never had this experience before. The owner took 117 off my card, without my authorisation, because we supposedly left a stain on a doona. We never saw said stain. First he said it was food, I informed him that we did not eat in the bedroom, then he weirdly suggested that it was dog urine as it was the same as under the liquid under the microwave in the kitchen, my dog can’t jump that high! Anyway, property was ok, a bit old but a magnificent backyard; just metres to the water. We were there thinking of a summer holiday but after we saw the shark swim across the beach, very close to the shore, we changed our minds. Kayaks aren’t much use if you can’t go in the water. I wouldn’t stay here again, the owner has harassed us despite our denial of his claims. Lastly, we cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed the floor before we left, what did he expect? We had stayed for a week!

Amazing!

Gorgeous place to stay! The house and garden areas are beautifully maintained. The house is very comfortable and you drift into holiday mode as soon as you walk in. Greg is wonderful, an absolutely incredible host. There are kayaks and a paddle board for use which is perfect for this stunning bay with its crystal clear waters. Walk in, sit back and enjoy the views, the pelicans that come right up to you hoping you have fish to give them, the dolphins that are in the bay daily, the kangaroos that come on to the lawns, the emus that wander through and enjoy pats with Herbie, the local Labrador who takes himself for walks and visits the shacks. We absolutely loved this place!

What a special place

We loved our stay at Greg’s shack. Mt Dutton Bay is quiet and peaceful, but with plenty of possibilities for water activities. The shack is absolute waterfront so it is perfect for just relaxing and unwinding. It was very well equipped with everything you need for your stay.

Awesome Place!

This is such a great place and quiet location. We had 5 adults including 3 younger people, and everyone loved the layout, interior decor, facilities, well-stocked kitchen, wi-fi and beach views. The additional caring touches of coffee pods, special teas, bread making machine and ingredients all made it wonderful. Spotlessly clean. Lovely linen. The communication with Greg was outstanding, he was so quick to message back and generous with his information, advice, flexibility and openness. We would highly recommend this place, it's a fantastic spot. Thank you Greg and Sue!

Relaxing perfect place!

Vardy’s shack at Mount Dutton Bay is amazing. It’s so peaceful and relaxing. Well equiped, very clean, on the beach, beach view from lounge and both bedrooms, comfortables beds and pillows. We made fresh bread, caught fish, (fish cleaning facility) seen kangaroos, dolphins, emus and many bird life. Seating and table out the front and the back. A run for your dog. Paddle board and 2 kayaks. We had an amazing fire in the fire pit on the beach. HEAVEN…

A slice of paradise!

Vandy's Shack has everything! We brought relatives from the UK and they fell in love with the "shack"....kayaking straight from the back door - we were lucky to paddle with a pod of dolphins and a sea lion! We used the shack as a base to explore - beautiful Farm Beach, up to Baird Bay to swim with the sea lions, and oysters in Coffin Bay. Just fabulous! So good to go home, cook dinner with a cool drink or 2 in hand and enjoy watching the world go by - the shack really had everything you could need. We would all love to come back....

Vandys Shack - a hidden gem

A little slice of paradise Spectacular location with so much to see and do. 20 mins to Coffin Bay or stay in your own little slice of heaven! Pooch loved it and made doggo friends when not snoozing in the sun.

They don’t make shacks like these anymore. Lovely retro feel but has what you need for a standard bnb. Felt like my childhood. Was great to sit outside facing the water and watch the world go by including the diverse bird life. Highly recommended.

Take the drive, it's worth it.

Second visit and will definitely be back. Stunning bay, a beach on your front verandah, great little house/shack with everything you need. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Great place for a relaxing stay. Very windy so we couldn’t use kayaks and paddle board. Not the best beach to walk out and have a swim. Absolutely spot less and air con worked really well. Recommend

A truly relaxing break

Property was lovely - very clean, beautifully renovated and had everything you would need. Fantastic views from the windows and also the large deck. Kayaks and paddle board added a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

Slice of paradise

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit, including our dog who was welcomed with a kennel, bowls and a long run-free line made available for her. The shack has been beautifully presented in its decor and the owner has included a history of the place with photos which made for some interesting reading. We made use of the kayaks, the fire pit right on the beach and spent hours with the endless possibilities with lego and duplo. The shack was very comfortable with a full kitchen and split system heater, the electric blankets on the bed were a nice touch for those cold nights. Lots to do in the local area, info found on the fridge was very handy. Very quite area but the people we did meet were very friendly, it was nice to get back to the basics of life and enjoy the scenery.

A very special place

Stayed a relaxing week at Vandy's shack, and really hope to go back. The shack is very clean and comfortable, the location peaceful and beautiful. Location is great - not too far from Coffin Bay and Pt Lincoln is only 30-40 minutes away. Having a camp fire on the beach under the stars with freshly shucked coffin bay oysters was a real treat. Highly recommended.

Depends what you are looking for. If you want no high rise and shops and hordes of people, forget Mount Dutton. But if after peaceful beautiful simple isolation… there could be nothing better. Absolutely fabulous.

Great stay at Dutton Bay

Vandys shack is the perfect place to relax and unwind and is an excellent base camp for exploring the family friendly Farm beach and many of the other close by beaches. Everything you need is supplied and allowing our dogs to stay was a nice touch (they absolutely loved it) overall a beautiful place in a beautiful spot you won’t be disappointed. Thanks Greg 👍

Peaceful perfect shack

We had a great week at Vandy’s shack! Very clean, great views, kayaks and paddle board, friendly neighbours… all we needed! Will definitely return and thanks again for being pet friendly! Our dog loved sitting on the beach, lawn and deck!
