The good, the bad, the ugly….

We stayed at the Surfdweller 409 May 27-June 3. The location of the property is fine if you are okay with driving everywhere. We did make the walk down the road to Stewby’s one evening and while it was long, it was fine for us. My MIL however, stayed back as she couldn’t make it that far. The beach was stunning. It was clean and the beach service was very nice. I only went to the pool once, but it was very well maintained. The room was a bit disappointing. I hesitated booking this unit because of the carpet, but did anyway. Huge mistake! The carpet was old, stiff, and smelly. They had shampooed it before we got there but it may have made it worse. It smelled like animal urine and mold. I had to buy air fresheners at the store. The bed in the primary suite was very hard and springy and we both had back aches the whole time. My kids (21 and 17) said their beds weren’t bad. The toilet in the primary suite needs some attention as I thought it was going to come out of the floor every time I used it. The kitchen was beautiful, but the oven took forever to preheat and the dishwasher didn’t really clean the dishes. The balcony is spacious but the furniture wasn’t very nice. Overall, the unit could use a little TLC. I went for the beach and was more than happy with that. I would stay at the Surfdweller again but definitely not in this unit.

Serf Dwellers

We rented the condo on the fourth floor overlooking both the beach and golf. Comfortable all tens days. Rained one day. Ate out quite a few days/and suppers. Overall the stay was great. Will be back next year year/spring.

Great kitchen

Very outdated, needing to do some upgrades. Kitchen was the best part. Living room chair had a nail sticking out, several family meme bees ruined shirts by getting snagged on chair. One child cut her finger. There were also nails sticking up from carpet going from dinning room to living room and the master bedroom. Paint peeling from bathroom walls. Patio furniture was awful. Wicker seating was uncomfortable and pillows were deformed. Sliding glass doors had no locks. Dryer took several attempts to dry clothing. Would not stay at this unit again.

Unit is somewhat dated and has old carpet. Kitchen needs more silverware, otherwise ok. Furniture needs updating. TV was nice. Could use more bath towels.

SurfDweller 409

Overall our vacation was very nice. The kitchen has been updated and the living room was very spacious. The balcony was nice as well. There were two holes in the ceiling when you first walk in. The vent in the master bathroom was hanging half out of the ceiling with a screw sticking out. The chair and couch were comfy but felt very dingy...but put a sheet over both and it was fine. The view of the beach was disappointing. There is netting at the edge of the beach going into the ocean about 50 feet apart...probably 20 different sections. It was only in front of this condo though. It was there to help with the beach erosion, but it made the view less than spectacular. The pool is located in the front of the condo instead of beachside. There was great communication with the rental company and having all the details sent to an app made it very convenient. But overall, we enjoyed it and would stay there again!

Great rental with a few fixable issues

Overall the rental was great, however there were a few issues. The Good: The view was amazing. You can wake up and see the beach from your room which is only a short walk. The room looked fairly updated. The balcony has a screen/cover so you can block the sun if its too hot. Nice place overall with plenty of space and in reasonable distance to restaurants. No issues with parking and there is a covered area you can use although it did stay pretty filled up. The Bad: The main issue was with the cleaning. The unit had a stale mildew smell when we arrived. I'm not sure if the AC was turned off and did that or if there was previous water damage. The fridge had a slight smell as well like it has been turned off. The shower drain had a bunch of long hair in it that had not been cleaned out and I found a hamburger bun stuck in a drain hole on the back balcony. Also the wood that was holding the window panels up had started to rip out of the wall. The door lock doesn't automatically lock so you have to hit a button on the inside of the door before you close it. We didn't realize it hadn't been locking until the 2nd day of the stay. The person over the beach chairs and umbrellas regularly took everything back early, and told us it was too late to get the chairs on the first night even thought it was 4pm and were supposed to be available until 6pm. There was supposed to be a gym but I couldn't find it. The wifi was extremely slow as well which didn't help when my service was out.

Great Place, Will Visit Again!

We enjoyed the beach chairs and offers that come with the rental. Check-In was easy and communication was great. Fantastic location and very close to many things.
