"A different day a different walk straight from the door. Just what we wanted! Beauty all around, on the doorstep. Swim in a gorgeous tarn 10 mins walk away. And when you need some R & R there’s a well equipped kitchen and a comfy bed in v tranquil setting, listening to the resident owl. Thank so much!"

"A lovely property in the heart of the lakes. Perfect position for hiking and walking to Ambleside town."

"We hired the bunkhouse for two nights of birthday celebrations and walking. Great location with stunning walks right outside the door. Wainwright’s Inn is a few steps away, as is the co-op with its little cafe upstairs. I hope to make our stay an annual event. Highly recommended!"

"Rural setting, lots of sheep, beautiful scenery, 25 min walk to Grasmere, 12km return trip walk to Ambleside. Perfect for relaxing short break in Lake District."

"We had an amazing week at Ullswater Cabin. The cabin itself was perfect for a week for a family of 4 with children aged 7 and 10. They loved the table tennis and pool facilities. The location of the cabin is great both on the site itself and within the lakes. We didn’t need to drive for more than 20 minutes to go anywhere (we could have if we wanted to but didn’t need to) and fitted so much into one week. Would definitely recommend. "

"We have just had a great holiday in the lakes. The house was in a brilliant location just a couple of minutes into the centre but far enough away to be peaceful.There was everything we needed in the house and it was clean throughout. The pool next door is a huge plus and the view is absolutely stunning.If I had to make any criticism it would be that the blinds need some attention but it didn't impede our stay at all.Thank you for hosting us "

"We spent four nights recently in Serendipity in the Lakelands complex in Ambleside. We were delighted to find it clean, comfortable and well located with just steps to the local Tesco, shops and restaurants. The king-sized bed was very comfortable. The sheets and towels were luxurious. The kitchen is well equipped, so was the bathroom, and there was good storage. "Booked this via VRBO and was forwarded to Hereward Cottages. Upon booking we were under the impression we had 4 bedrooms to use as we pleased - however, we were told (pretty rudely via email) the 4th bedroom was only suitable for children (even though the beds would have easily held a fully grown adult on the bottom bunk). We'd also booked two dogs but didn't check this at time of booking, again, being told pretty rudely 'they would have to check' this was ok (it was btw!).All in all the actual...

"Spent the first half hour hoovering cobwebs from bedrooms....toilet floor was damaged and spongy......little disappointing really because we've stayed in this block of cottages before....."

"Compact apartment, perfect for a couple or single. Small double bed and limited headroom in the bedroom but fine for a few nights. Due to limited headroom there isn’t a shower but there is a shower attachment in the bath for hair washing. Great location in the centre of Grasmere. We would definitely return."
