"My wife, our dog and I had an excellent stay at the Checkerboard guest house in Cobourg. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean and as advertised, and was only about 2km from downtown. Our host, Tish, was easily available and responsive to our requests. We needed a pet friendly place, and this fit the bill perfectly!"

Appliances were clean and new.Some suggestions: the faucet on the kitchen sink is very loose, some of the outlets in the kitchen do not work, and there aren't a ton of kitchen items (big bowls, cookie sheets, plastic bags, tin foil)."

"It’s a basic hotel. We got in town late and left in the morning so it served its purpose. The TV in our room didn’t work and it looked a little run down but it was clean and the bed was comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was good. If you just need a place to rest your head this place will do. The staff were great and very friendly."
