Our cabins are eco-friendly, beautiful interior, firepit, BBQ grill, a complete modern kitchen, bath and facilities. Easy access to the river, hiking, beautiful views, kayaking, birding, nearby Garner State Park, Lost Maples State Park , hunting, fishing. Summer fun in the river.

The cabin was nice and situated in a great location on the river. The cabin needs some TLC and maintenance inside and around the grounds outside. The grass was high around the patio and cabin.

Great stay! The house was very clean and accommodating. The views of the river from the porch were amazing! We enjoyed many evenings just sitting there and watching out over the river, seeing fish, turtles and even an occasional deer. The BBQ pit was useful and the kitchen was pretty well stocked for everything needed. The open view at the side porch is perfect for star gazing. A very comfortable stay. The access to the river at this home was great. Seems a little daunting at first glance, but once you find your footing it’s pretty easy. Kids did it easily and so did we. The closeness of the access and river made it great to hang out right by the home without having to pack a lot of extras to take with you for the day. The river was flowing more than we have seen it in years!! Definitely one of our better vacations here!!! Only a couple things were bothersome but not a deal breaker. -Gnats were an issue at the porch. Not sure if it was due to the rains that week before & the grass that was tall at the home, but they were pesty when sitting on the porch. -The tree that overhangs the road to the home was sketchy. Cleared it with a 4x4 truck, but still made it worrisome at first. -Bath towels were an issue the first night. Drying off you could smell the sour odor. (Towels that had been left in a washer too long/forgotten.) So luckily for the washer and dryer being in the home, washed all the towels clean for the remainder of our time here.

We had an amazing time just walking down to the river and watching the fish swim by, hiking up and down the river, and going into town. great experience! Gener State Park was an amazing day trip. We loved going and watching the bats at Frio Bat Cave.

great stay!

As soon as you pull up, you see the nice porch. But the pics do not give the property justice, the side porch wraps around to the back and give a large space for grilling and doing s’mores! This is exactly what we did while there. The only reason I gave 4 stars for cleanliness is because there were some spots behind both bathroom doors that were questionable but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Oh also- they supply a boat load of board games and DVD’s! We watched a bunch of old Disney movies in the evening when we were done fishing, swimming, floating, etc.

Beautiful getaway

We’ve been going to Double Dog cabins for 7 or 8 years now. We love how peaceful the place is. It’s like a little piece of heaven just for you to enjoy. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoy going. The accommodations are amazing. You have everything you need already there. Even a washer and dryer. It deserves more than 5 stars.

Secluded and relaxing

Overall, the location is nice, the river is low here and a very steep climb to get down too, but also very private area for relaxing. My only complaint is this is listed as a 3 bedroom and it is not. There are only 2 bedrooms, which made it difficult when you have 2 teens and an 11 yr old. There is a futon in the living area. However if we would have known only a 2 bedroom we would not have booked. Other than that, everything else was accurate and nice. Thank you!

Already Planning For A Repeat!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Everything was top notch. It was just like being at home. Property owners make sure that if you forget something it is supplied at the cabin. And on top of that, the cabin overlooks a beautiful part of the river. We will definitely be booking again.

Awesome Weekend Getaway

This was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway for the weekend. Everything was exactly as advertised and the surroundings are beautiful and tranquil. We will definitely book again in the future.

Perfect Frio Getaway

Drink morning coffee watching the Sun rise rising right in front of you over a serene portion of the West Frio River. While the Frio is low right now, this West section had water for river walks and playing. Some small perch in a few pools. Hosts go out of their way for a perfect stay. Walk down to the river for those without mobility issues. Hope to return one day.

Great cabin

Overall the cabin is excellent but the cleanliness is lacking. Both toilets had to be cleaned before we could use them. There are cobwebs all over pics and ceiling, ceiling fans haven't been dusted.To be honest - we had a great time and will be back. Just wish it was a bit cleaner.

Lovely Cabin in Remote Location on Frio River

My wife and I frequent the Texas Hill Country and look for quiet cabins in remote areas. This one was perfect for us. The cabin is well maintained, clean, and lacking in nothing. The location was remote, quiet, and literally on the river. It is hard to access the water because of the steep river bank. There is a large rope provided to stabilize your climb down and back up. Not a problem for us able-bodied old folks. Kids would love it. We found our stay to quite enjoyable and look forward to returning in the future.

Nice overall views, the cabin is well equip, the living room ( chair and futon) should be updated and access to the water is difficult at best. at least if over 60 yrs of age even then you need to be very careful. easy access to town and restaurants. I would visit again.

Great Getaway.

Just what we needed for a family vacation. The river provided hours of enjoyment for the kids to fish. Just a short drive from Garner State Park. Beautiful scenery.

Amazing Place

This was our 6 year going to Double Dog Cabins. I can not say enough wonderfully things about the place. It has it all. Great view, privacy, easy river access. The house is very cute and has everything you need. And the owner, Mr. Moore, is wonderful and extremely helpful. Already have next year booked.

Perfect Little Cabin & Spot

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was absolutely the perfect place! The cabin was equipped with everything you could need and the views were breathtaking. The climb up and down to the river is very steep so you'd need to be able to handle that to access the river from the property. John was great and very helpful. Our dogs also had a great time swimming in the river. It was deep enough in spots for them to swim but shallow enough for us to sit in chairs and enjoy the water. We definitely plan to return again for another visit.
