Gorgeous and good location !!
NYC is a must go ever!! This studio is great! Everything is as it is shown in the pictures! Dennis welcomed me perfectly well and gave me many tips in the neighbourhood. I recommend and hope to come back soon!

Comfortable apartment, great neighborhood, terrific owner
The studio apartment is very small but suitable to my needs. The bedsheets and towels are high quality and the bed is comfortable. Small sink in the kitchenette but doable if you're not doing much cooking. The one drawback is the very small shower. Dennis, the friendly and helpful owner, plans to add a smaller and more flexible showerhead, which will help somewhat. Other than that, it's a delightful apartment and I'd be happy to stay there again.

Beth, thank you for your review. I enjoyed having you here. I very much appreciate your honest feedback, as I'm continually trying to improve my places. I love the idea of a hand held shower fixture attached to the current shower line. This will allow for different options while using the shower. I hope to see you again soon. Regards, Dennis

Harlem Hideaway
I ALWAYS stay at Harlem Hideaway when I visit NYC. Dennis is such a pleasant, professional, accommodating host. The property has easy access to subway to get anywhere in the 5 Burroughs quickly. There are tons of restaurants, wine stores, and delis close by. It's like being at home away from home and I'm from TEXAS!!!!

My Harlem Hideaway Exprience
An absolute treat to be able to visit NYC and stay in a beautiful brownstone. Very Clean with great amenities such as, towel service, fully stocked kitchen with a full size refrigerator, a very comfortable large bed, large tv, cable, music, and lots of closet space. There's great art work uniquely placed throughout the brownstone. Truly a home away from home and I had an awesome time relaxing here. I'll definitely be back. Thank you Harlem Hide Away!

Awesome Hideaway
We had a lovely stay at the Harlem Hideaway. Beautifully furnished, more than comfortable bed, great host and awesomely positioned. Easy walk to restaurants and subway. 9 blocks south the the Northern end of Central Park. We highly recommend this property.

Perfect apartment with great restaurants around
We really enjoyed our stay in Dennis' apartment which looks exactly as on the pictures. The street is nice and quiet, but everything you need is there: supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants and bars for everybody's taste! Around Halloween time when we were there, the houses were imaginagery decorated. After long trips through NY we really appreciated the great and comfortable mattress and clean bet linen. We will be back for sure! Thank you, Dennis for everything! S&A

Harlem Hideaway was definitely the perfect choice
I consider having been able to stay at a brownstone such as Dennis's a real privilege. The Studio is beautifully decorated, quiet, equiped with a bag full with useful information and within walkable distance of many of the places you are surely interested in visiting. Of course staying in Harlem implies having a whole different outloook of New York, and that was welcome to! To sum it all up, I sure hope I'll come back to Harlem Hideaway ...

Fabulous!!
The Harlem Hideaway was absolutley perfect for our New York Holiday. We loved everything about the accommodation and the area. It was fun sitting on the stoop in the evening and chatting to the passers by. Location was excellent with the Subway a short walk away.

Great location and Dennis is super helpful!
So glad we picked this place. Dennis has lived in the area for many years and told us about all the best places to eat and visit. The apartment is very comfortable, nice bed, very clean and surprisingly quiet. We loved it!

My out of town guest cancelled so my fella and I decided to have a staycation in his place. The entire building is a Victorian treasure. Our studio apartment was spotless, quiet, lovely and completely comfortable. I hated having to leave.

The property was PERFECT! Ideal space for a couple if staying in is on the agenda.
The property was enough space for my wife & I. I'm glad that I lost a few pounds or using the bathroom and taking showers would have not been possible. Well, because I did lose some weight I was comfortable throughout the apartment. The apartment was nicely furnished and also had a Vizio tv for our viewing pleasure. The apartment was centrally located to bus lines, subway terminals, and shops close enough that walking didn't make us feel tired when we decided to walk. We will seriously consider renting out this space again on our next visit to NYC.

Hideaway Saves the day!!!!
First-timer/New York 'rookies' we had NO idea where to stay on our recent trip & thus, sold on pictures & price decided on Harlem Hideaway......we feel very lucky indeed! Location is so handy to subway, neighbourhood has the best people watching, so many great places to eat & drink super close. We loved getting in amongst it and found ourselves eager to get back to our little place at the end of huge days walking this colourful city. Dennis is the perfect host, great advice for our stay, he has literally thought of everything! Beautiful building & décor, quite haven after the endless midtown crowds. Hey you can even just sit out on 'the stoop' and watch the world go by - Just do it we say!!!! Thanks Dennis & Harlem Hideaway for a most memorable time - Lynda & Dave, New Zealand

We stayed in this unit for 7 nights and absolutely loved it. Harlem was a beautiful place to stay in, everyone was so friendly. The unit is close to the subway so easy to get anywhere and its so close to Central Park. Dennis was great to deal with, very responsive when contacted. He even printed some tickets to an Ice Hockey game for us 😊 Would highly recommend this accommodation and will be staying there when we come back to New York in the future.

Excelent apartements, stunningly decorated, with beautiful objects and good taste
We passed a month in Harlem Hideaways. The longest stay was at the Studio which is very confortable and nicely equipped, as well as carefully decorated, with a lot of contort although it's small surface. Its full of light, has a good bed, huge TV with cable, correct wifi system, a whole kitchen with all the needing utensils to cook and a lot of courtesy of our host Dennis Decker who alway has coffe sugar salt oil condiments tea for the guests as soon as you arrive. ( as well as cleaning materials) There was something to be arranged at our apt and Dennis offered kindly his two major apts as a replacement for those days. The Parlor which is big decorated confotable and with a huge kitchen divinely equipped ( dishwasher convection oven microwave etc) outside street view big enchanting windows, and the Garden: a gorgeous place where to spend a holiday! Enormous bedroom, devine living room with a extraordinary kitchen included. Spectacular decoration and furniture and its own small patio garden. Dennis is an excellent host and a very good person, who takes care of his guests and business with charm and responsibility. A Cosy Hideaway in Harlem
When researching places to stay for our New York holiday in January, we wanted an apartment that was just like what you see in the movies and on television. Harlem Hideaway studio provided exactly this. We arrived and we were instantly amazed by the lovely street and steps leading up to the apartment building. Dennis was highly accommodating and well informed with plenty of suggestions for local cafes, restaurants and things to do. The apartment was clean with plenty of fresh linen, towels and amenities in which we used daily. The location in Harlem is great as you are walking distance to local supermarkets, cafes and parks. A favourite market we found is called 'Best Market Harlem.' It is also just a quick walk to the subway, where you can easily make your way to downtown Manhattan. Thank you to Dennis for being such a friendly and attentive host. We throughly enjoyed our stay.

So cute, perfect location.
Perfect little area, close to the subway but still away from the super touristy and busy area. Harlem has its own little personality that I loved! Dennis is an amazing host, the apartment was perfect for two, it had everything we needed. And if there was any questions he replied instantly. There's brochures to check out from other guests and is in perfect walking distance to grab a bite to eat and drink. Can't wait for our next NY trip cause this is definitely where we'll be staying!

Your own home in the heart of Harlem
You really do feel at home there.We travel a lot and make it a point to change places we stay in.With one exception - in NY this is our home. Yes,we alternate beetween several apartments there, but these are just like different rooms at your house.Dennis is an excellent host,the place has everything you can possibly need and this rare,unique ,magical atmosphere as an added bonus.And the neiboughrhood is fascinating.This should definitely be your place of choice when in NY.On Sunday - go to the gospel mass in a church nearby, then explore the less known north part of the Central Park /within walking distance/.And if feel like Soho or new WTC - these are just less than half an hour on express metro line.Wholeheartedly recommended.Piotr&Kasia.

Stylisches Appartement mit sehr nettem Vermieter in idyllischer Nebenstraße der MalcomX Avenue
Wir haben 5 Tage in diesem tollen Appartement verbracht! Empfangen wurden wir von Dennis, dem sehr netten Vermieter, der uns tolle Tipps gab und uns gleich mit Musik aus dem im Appartement vorhandenen iPod begrüßte! Das Appartement ist sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und ist ruhig, da es nach hinten mit Ausblick in die Gärten liegt. Es befindet sich in einem für die Gegend typischen 'Brownhouse'. Schon das Treppenhaus ist ein Hingucker! Der einzige ganz kleine Kritikpunkt ist das super kleine 'Badezimmer' ... Aber es ist alles da, was man benötigt und deshalb kommt es auch zu keinem Punktabzug! Die Nachbarschaft ist sehr freundlich und wir haben uns sehr sicher gefühlt! Man fühlt sich nicht wie ein typischer Tourist, sondern ist Teil der Gesellschaft, was uns besonders gut gefallen hat! Gleich um die Ecke sind die Subway, Frühstücksläden und tolle Restaurants/Bars wie das Red Rooster Harlem und Sylvia's! Auch das Apollo Theater ist in 10 Minuten fußläufig zu erreichen! Wir können dieses Appartement nur wärmstens empfehlen!

Jederzeit wieder!!
Dennis und das Harlem Hideaway machen einem den Abschied aus Harlem schwer. Das Appartement ist top ausgestattet, sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Lage ist super. Ruhig in einer sicheren Nachbarschaft gelegen, aber durch die Express Züge der Subway super an Downtown Manhattan angeschlossen. Supermarrkt, Restaurants, Waschsalon und Bars in unmittelbarer Nähe. Das legendäre Apollo Theater ist ebenfalls fußläufig zu erreichen. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt.

Top Lage, netter Gastgeber, schönes Studio unbedingt zu empfehlen!
Das Studio liegt super zentral im Harlem, in einer ruhigen Straße. Subway und Supermarkt gleich um die Ecke. Es ist genau wie auf den Fotos, sauber und gemütlich. Dennis ist sehr nett und gibt viele gute Tipps. Wir können es unbedingt empfehlen!

Location, Location, Location!!
Oct 5,2016 My husband & I had a wonderful experience staying at Harlem Hideaway. The location was fabulous, super close to the subway, grocery stores, great restaurants & the Apollo theatre. It was on a quiet street & we were able to enjoy sitting on the front steps watching all the local goings on. The neighborhood was very safe & super quiet with friendly neighbors. People actually smiled & said good morning to each other. Dennis was a gracious host & available when needed. After the hustle & bustle of Manhattan, it was nice to come home to a quiet place with 19th century charm. It was so quiet, I slept better there than in my own home . Great stay
Very clean and VERY quiet. We enjoyed the location and we were connected to everything in NYC with a short subway ride (various lines within several blocks). Central Park was an easy 10 minute walk. There were also a number of places to eat nearby. We walked in the area after midnight and felt very safe. We didn't use the kitchen facilities as we were out so much, but did put fruit and yogurt in the large frig. Dennis was very friendly and available, and eager to provide us with information about the area. Highly recommend the Harlem Hideaway

Dennis was very helpful/ welcoming and we enjoyed all his suggested spots. The hideaway was clean, very comfortable bed, great music playing on iPod and nice candle lit when we arrived . Easy access to subway and we felt safe late at night coming back from downtown . Nice small kitchen and sitting area where we enjoyed making coffee and relaxing . We would highly reccomend the hideaway !!!

Perfect base for NYC trip !
Our stay at Harlem Hideaway was great, apartment perfect for two with all that we needed. Dennis was brilliant, with fantastic advice. WiFi was good - very helpful for last minute planning ! We both enjoy our stay in Harlem, feeling comfortable and safe well into the night. Our suggestions to get started ; - First day book the Circle Line Tour, gives you chance to get a real feel for the city. - Buy a 7-day Metro card (a must!) - Book tickets for 'Top of the Rock', for a late afternoon to watch the city light up.. not Empire State as that is one of the amazing things to see in the city! - Don't book too much before going, Dennis has plenty of good suggestions Thank you Dennis !

Amazing!
Our stay in Dennis Apartment has been really really beautiful and Dennis, of course, is a super nice host. We arrived a bit late, almost midnight, although he'd been very warm and friendly. The room was very cool and cozy, with the candles light on and a very pleasant fragrance inside. We fall in love with Harlem, a real American place, not touristic, and most important safe with all the necessary to reach Manhattan. We definitely suggest Harlem Hideaway! :)

Ein kleines Zuhause in Harlem
Die Wohnung ist sehr geschmackvoll und liebevoll eingerichtet, sie ist zwar nicht groß, hat aber absolut alles, was man braucht! Schön ist die Lage im Herzen Harlems in einer der schönen Straßen mit den Brownstones, gleichzeitig ist die Lage auch sehr verkehrsgünstig, z.B. in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Express-U-Bahn, die den Times Square in ca. 12 Minuten erreicht. Damit ist die Wohnung ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für alle Unternehmungen in der Stadt und bleibt gleichzeitig ein Ort, an dem man sich abends nach einem langen Tag im Trubel der Stadt entspannen kann. Es gibt viele gute Restaurants in der näheren Umgebung, Banken, Wäschereien und einen Supermarkt. Dennis hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen, uns mit zahllosen Tipps ausgestattet und uns alles erklärt und er war auch die ganze Zeit während unseres Aufenthaltes immer ansprechbar und hilfsbereit! Wir würden sofort wieder hinfahren!!

The building is beautiful & very well maintained. The studio is gorgeous & had everything I needed to feel at home. Harlem Hideaway was a great place to stay!
We had a fantastic stay! Dennis was great, very thorough when showing us the studio. He provided info about the area - sites, subway and restaurants! Very convenient access to the subway. We bought a 7 day unlimited Metro pass and got our money's worth in 5 days. When coming back around midnight, there were always people about and my husband and I felt like the neighborhood was safe. 119th street is like a scene from a movie- all the brownstones on a tree lined street. Next time we go back to NYC, we'd love to stay at the Harlem Hideaway again. Dennis puts a lot of love and care into his place, it was clean, comfortable and well decorated.

Dennis was very helpful and friendly. Everything was very well organized. The flat is in a great location. Very nice and interesting neighborhood, lots of great things to do. Apollo theater, pubs with life music (red rooster) etc. Nice cafe with good coffee and breakfast just round the corner. Good connection over subway to downtown Manhattan (10-15 min to time square) and to the Yankee stadium, Bronx. Loved it, will come again.

Perfect Hideaway
We stayed for a few days in the Harlem Hideaway Studio apartment in May 2016. Dennis was very helpful, with lots of time spent making sure we knew where everything was in the apartment and in the neighbourhood. The apartment itself is very authentic, is clean and has everything you need. Dennis even provided a player with heaps of jazz on it for us to play quietly in the background while there - which set the scene for wandering around the Harlem area. It was close to the subway, laundrette, many many restaurants of very good quality, and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. It is only a few blocks from Central Park and a Sunday morning walk around there was brilliant. There is also a guest book provided - not to review the apartment as such although many have, but for recommending areas to visit, restaurants they enjoyed, and places of interest which other guests have completed - we thought this was a great idea. All in all, Dennis has a great set up here which we can thoroughly recommend.

Perfect alternative to a hotel
My husband and I stayed in this studio for 3 nights. It was exactly what we needed, and I would stay here again in the future instead of getting a hotel. The studio was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. Dennis was great to communicate with. He responded quickly when asking questions about the property before booking, respected our privacy during our stay, and met him as we were packing up the car. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back again!

Fantastic!!
Dennis was a great host, accepting us late at night when our flight landed and giving us a great overview of everything! We were then left to enjoy the city and the wonderful apartment, knowing Dennis was there if we had any issues. The apartment was wonderful, an incredibly comfy bed and very well equipped. Harlem was perfect, right on the subway to get into town quickly but a great neighbourhood to experience how real new yorkers live, away from all the typical tourist haunts. We absolutely loved our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting New York!

Great property, great location!
We decided to stay at the "Harlem Hideaway" to get a more interesting experience than just a typical hotel stay. We were very happy that we did! The studio was very cute, and was perfectly located - only 3 blocks from the subway station. The apartment was very clean and well laid out for such a small space. Dennis was very helpful, sharing info about the area and promptly fixing the one issue that we did have (a slow draining sink). The area was quiet and I never felt unsafe - even getting back at midnight a few times! The subway connections made it easy to get all over the greater NYC area very quickly. A bonus that we realized after we got there was that there is a direct bus service to LaGuardia that boards only 5 blocks away. This was a short walk to save the $40 it would have cost for a cab or car service - and we were able to use our metro card to pay for it! We would definitely recommend the Harlem Hideaway to anyone visiting NYC!

Quiet, convenient and comfortable
located on a quiet street very convenient to several subway stops, near a variety of restaurants, this was a great place to stay. Dennis is a great host explaining the unit very well upon arrival and answering e-mails and text messages quickly during our entire trip. The unit is very nice, modern and comfortable. You fell very safe in the neighborhood anytime of day or night.

El estudio tiene una excelente ubicación cerca a todo, la estacion del metro es como a dos cuadras eso quiere decir que podras ir a todos lados, dennis fue amable y detallista nos colaboro lo que mas pudo agradecemos su cordialidad, 100% recomendable. Great weekend getaway in Harlem!
Studio is nicely decorated and clean. Dennis is a great host, very nice and knowledgeable of the neighborhood. 3 blocks to subway and then 10 minutes you're in Times Square. Restaurants, coffee shop, groceries all around the corner. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
