Summary:
Tiny house living at its best! Our lovingly-restored and dog-friendly studio cottage is all you need for you and your pup to enjoy OBX!

Bankers Cottage pays tribute to the Bankers Ponies that have made their home in the salt air, on the sand dunes and among the sea grass of The Outer Banks.

Wonderful location just steps from the beach, directly across from a public beach access and in between the iconic Jennette's Pier and Gary Oliver Fishing Piers. Bankers Cottage is centrally located in Nags Head close to many great local attractions including the beautifully renovated Jennette's Pier (one mile away), wonderful restaurants, grocery stores, the NC Aquarium in Manteo, Jockey's Ridge, Tanger Outlet Shopping, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Coquina Beach, off-roading and fishing at Oregon Inlet, fine and casual dining and much more.

Property features include: dog-friendly accommodations, cable, WiFi, a well-stocked efficiency kitchen, flat screen TV, king size bed, free off-street parking, outdoor charcoal grill, a beach cart, and an outdoor hose. 

Linens are provided by an independent vendor (bed linens, bath towels, washcloths, sheets). Bed will be made when you arrive!

Our awesome caretakers, Mike and Lisa, live nearby and are as committed to your experience as we are.

No smoking permitted in the cottage. There is a two-dog maximum, we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. This property is not handicap accessible. We have a 30-day cancellation policy - refunds will only be issued if cancellation is submitted in writing to the property manager outside of 30 days from check-in date.

Nearest airports are RDU (Raleigh Durham, NC) and ORF (Norfolk, VA). A car is the best way to explore the Outer Banks.

My secret spot!

I have stayed in the OBX four times this year in various houses and hotels. My stay in Bankers Cottage was by far the best stay yet. Great location, private, yet so close to everything! I will be back to stay in this terrific tiny house soon!

Nice and Quiet

Nags Head was very quiet in the off-season. Cottage was in easy reach of Cape Hatteras, the aquarium and gardens on Roanoke Island, Jockey Ridge state park. Beach was just a few steps away. Starry skies at night. Hosts were easy to work with and talk to.

Perfect vacation

This cottage was made for us - beaches, horses, and people! My basset hound and I loved it. Close to the beach in a quiet part of Nags Head. Great size for one or two people. Easy to access and very clean. We will definitely be back!

Overall good experience… the house is the right size for us and our pups .It sits right across from the beach and there are great fishing piers a few minutes drive away. The bed was so comfortable!!

Tiny Cottage that had it all

We had a wonderful week at Bankers Cottage!!! The location is amazing. We could hear the waves when we opened the front door. Right across the street is the public beach access. The house was spotless when we arrived. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The house was perfect for my husband and I and our dog. There are two rockers on the porch that we sat in and enjoyed the night sky. There is also a picnic table if you would like to eat outside. We highly recommend Bankers Cottage! It is a gem!

This is the second time we have stayed at Bankers Cottage. We will return. We love the area, also like the cottage. It fits our needs. The only issue is the floors are in bad need of mopping. Also there is never a dish rag or dish towel. I bring extra rags incase of a need. Glad I did this time.

Spring Break Getaway

Perfect little get-away, actually it was ten days and my husband, myself, and two dogs had a very relaxing vacation. We had some meals at the cottage and some out. It was the perfect combination. We’d awake for sunrise on the beach and then go back to cottage and sleep in for a bit more. We were able to go from Cape Hatteras to Corolla during our stay. Traffic was not bad at all. We loved the jeep tour in Corolla and saw some ponies. We loved Jockeys Ridge. We shopped a few times in Manteo and visited the List Colony as well as Wanchese. We found an awesome shell store over there with other souvenirs too. We brought home one of the crab float decorations that is now hanging in our yard. We heard a great story about them from a local resident. We are RV’ers so the little cottage is the lifestyle we are used to. Perfect!

Perfect for two

This house was perfect for my husband and I and our two small dogs. Short walk to beach. Just as described, clean and decorated nicely. Kitchen small but has everything needed to cook small meals while there. It was amazing-don’t pass up this little gem!

Lovely tiny cottage!

Lovely TINY cottage! I have to emphasize TINY tho, not to deter anyone from staying here, just be realistic about the space. So many positive things to say tho, amazingly easy beach access right across the street, just far enough out of town to be quiet but close enough to get food, the AC unit is EFFECTIVE, good WiFi, overall a very well appointed tiny space. The cons are personal preference so may not apply to everyone, but the shower is small, the mini fridge in the kitchen will hold some cold drinks but not enough space to store leftovers, and we couldn’t seem to get the outside spigot working to rinse any sandy feet. But we loved our stay and we look forward to working with these hosts again!

Tiny home, all you need!

It was really all you need in your stay. Me and my two dogs had enough space and with the beach right across the street the location is perfect. So grateful for the beach wagon that was at the home too!

Great little get away

Great little place for a couple and their pets! We come to the OBX at least annually. We wanted to take our bulldogs let them experience something new and this little cottage was perfect for a long weekend. Close to all our favorite restaurants. I’m sure we’ll be back!
