I booked this room because of the low fees and because of the positive reviews from two other guests. Never been to Miami so I didn’t have any knowledge of the area prior to our stay. The building had 10 apartments and faced an empty lot on one side and a busy intersection from the other. Single level. The room itself was recently updated, very cheaply, as several places in the floor were soft like they just put flooring over a hole. The neighbors were quiet, but a very strong pot smell constantly streamed into the bathroom vents, which I guessed were connected to another resident. The property is surrounded by blight and there are a lot of empty buildings and most homes and businesses had bars on their windows. Main Little Havana is actually about a mile away from the property, which we were able to walk on foot through some areas that were economically depressed. Aside from Little Havana, shopping areas and beaches were not close and required a 20 minute drive to get too. Miami is not like many big cities that have excellent public transportation in the form of subways or trains, there is a lot of traffic because a car is needed to get around. Which makes the location of the property inconvenient since nothing is nearby. If you are on a very tight budget, I think you are better off getting a room at a budget hotel, which is about the same price as this rental. If you can afford something else, I would highly recommend springing the extra cash and not making the same mistake that I did.
