Located in Carinthia's Mölltal valley in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the small mountain village of Mallnitz presents itself as a little paradise for anyone who loves nature in the Alps.

In winter, Mallnitz is THE meeting point for winter sports enthusiasts. The Ankogel ski area awaits you with beautiful views and fantastic slopes. From the mountain station to the valley, you can descend 1400 meters on almost 13 km of perfectly prepared slopes. The vast, open ski area on the Ankogel has long been an insider tip in the freeride scene. This is also home to Carinthia's longest piste with an altitude difference of 1349 meters. The Mölltal glacier in nearby Flattach with around 40 km of slopes offers winter sports enthusiasts snow safety, exciting glacier descents and ideal conditions for carvers, ski racers and snowboarders. Right at the middle station, there are special children's slopes for first winter sports attempts and a glacier fun park for freestylers.

Other ski areas in the Hohe Tauern National Park include the Grossglockner/Heiligenblutt ski area with 55 km of ski slopes, the family ski area Emberger Alm, located high above the Drau Valley, with southern ski runs between 1.600 and 2,200 meters and the 4 varied top skiing areas with almost 200 km of ski slopes in Skigastein: Schlossalm-Angertal-Stubnerkogel, Sportgastein, Graukogel and Dorfgastein-Großarltal, these are about 20 kilometers from Mallnitz.

Mallnitz and its surroundings also offer a number of lakes, including the famous Stappitzer See in the Seebachtal, as well as public swimming pools such as the Tauernbad Mallnitz with a spacious sauna landscape and the public swimming pools in Obervellach and Reisseck. There are also many beautiful hiking and cycling trails, various sights, plenty of shopping opportunities and several restaurants in Mallnitz and its surroundings
