Thank you for your review. Yes, the house is old, the original part was built in the 1950’s. However, it is certainly not run down. Many steps have been taken to ensure the home is comfortable. There are three proper bedrooms and one bed in the foyer area. We do not list life jackets as an amenity due to the fact that they tend to “walk away” often. What’s there is left over from other renters (in fact, we bought 3 brand new ones last year that were not returned). Towels are all together in one closet and we have labeled every light switch to help since there are so many. Not sure how to make that simpler. Also, we only provide the basics of “little” necessities - toilet paper, paper towels, soap, dish detergent, laundry detergent, salt, pepper, tin foil, Saran Wrap, chargers, travel shampoos- anything else you may need can be found at the store that’s 5 minutes up the road. Again, thank you for your review and hate the house wasn’t as new and luxurious as you’d like. We also hope you enjoyed getting to check in out late- as that was a courtesy we didn’t charge your for.

Thank you for your honest review. I will definitely look into the lightbulb issue. We changed all nonworking lightbulbs on Labor Day, so to hear many aren't working is a cause for concern. We would never expect our guests to change bulbs (hence no ladder in house). If you would've messaged me, I would have gladly changed them for you. Thank you also for the information on the master bedroom ceiling fan. I will definitely have the "noise" remedied. We actually have the house listed as a 3 bedroom house, not 4. Yes, we do count the front room as a bedroom as it measures approximately 10x12 (not foyer size). We appreciate your point on the privacy. I will make note on our description to more accurately describe the room. I regret the light bulb and bedroom inconvenience will prevent you from renting again, but I appreciate your review. Communication with home owners when there's a problem during your stay is very important. Many times problems can be solved well before the end of the trip.

Given the nature of this particular review and the many untruths within, I will respond to get the truth out there about this guest's stay at my property. When the guest contacted me about the dirtiness of the house, I immediately called the woman who cleans - yes, I have one person (who has been with me since 2020), not a cleaning service and the other owner who had just walked through the house the week prior. The cleaning lady went immediately to the house to talk to the renter. Upon entering the home, the guests were cooking on the stove and cutting up food DIRECTLY on the counter! So, according to the renter, the house was filthy and within 30 minutes, they cleaned all the pots, pans, utensils, floors, etc enough to cook and prep food directly on the counter? The cleaning woman also offered to strip the beds and re-wash sheets (which she had just washed two weeks ago - not two months!) They refused. Efforts were made to try to address their complaints, but they refused on every level. The co-owner of the house stated she had walked through the house the week before and it looked perfectly fine to her. As far as the refund, I offered to come clean the house myself after they refused the cleaning lady and again, they refused. They were willing to stay and not have to the house re-cleaned. So, I offered a two night refund instead. She gladly took the monetary offer. The next day, she gave me some runaround about her credit card and VRBO and wanted me REFUND HER DIRECTLY! Of course I refused because that request reeked of fraud! Yes, there was no hot water the first night. The plumber came by 1:00 the next day (not 3:30) and fixed it within 30 minutes. I asked him specifically about the "dangerous" lines and he had no idea what I was talking about. He stated he didn't even look at the lines! He literally unplugged the water heater and plugged it back in. Again, lies from the renter. As far as us turning the hot water off a couple months ago, lies again. I explained to her that during extreme cold snaps, we turn the water off so the pipes won't freeze. The water was back on before she arrived. The hot water had nothing to do with that. There are many other inconsistencies between this review and the conversations I personally had with the renter. I tried everything I knew to make her stay comfortable and fix the complaints she had. She refused two offers to re-clean the house, but gladly took a refund. But again, that wasn't good enough and wanted me to send her money directly!
