Private & relaxing
The cabin and property was absolutely wonderful. The water pressure in the shower was great, the bed was very comfortable. We had good internet access and it was nice having a lot of movies to watch. We had total privacy and many places to be outside to enjoy listening to the river surrounded by nature with my wife and dog. We would recommend this to anyone! The kitchen had everything we needed. The owners Patti & Bob thought of everything in stocking the cabin with the basic essentials. They were very nice. We met the property manager Cain and she was very responsive to any request we had.

Redwood haven!
Absolutely peaceful (and beautiful). Cabin had great furnishings and every amentity that we needed! The sound of the river was very relaxing. Eating on the patio was great. Drive to and from the Redwoods was short and beautiful. Exceeded our expectations. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area!

Peaceful and Perfect
This is the second time I’ve stayed at this wonderful cabin on the Smith River. The location is absolutely perfect and the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay a complete restful delight. I can’t wait to come back again!

Perfect!
Patti and Caitlin were great hosts and even brought us a pineapple from Maui. The view and sound of the river was lovely. The cabin was so cute and perfect for our small family while we explored Jedediah Smith State Park. ❤️🌲

Relax and unwind
Wonderful cabin to relax and unwind. Very peaceful setting, loved opening the windows in the evening and hearing the river. Great outdoor space! Short drive to access Howland Hill Rd through the state park - a beautiful and serene drive. This was our first trip to the Redwoods area and the riverside retreat was a great home base.

Life by the river

Lovely Stay by the River
This cabin was amazing! It had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, and there were so many nice touches that made us feel welcomed. We loved the location and relaxing to the sound of the Smith River. We had a wonderful time.

Loved our adventure!
Thank you again for a phenomenal stay so close to the Redwood State Parks. The cabin was beautiful, the river was perfectly challenging for our mini-whitewater adventure, and the hospitality was 110%. Wonderful
Rustic doesn’t mean dump here! Very clean. Probably the most well stock vacation rental we have stayed in to date. Communication with the owner all went smooth. We had some trouble with the key pad for the door lock. Oh, well, we felt, in this area, safe leaving our little home away from home unlocked while out exploring. This place will not disappoint if you are looking for something off the beaten path!

Very cute cabin
This is a really cute, clean, well equipped cabin. The outdoor space is exceptional, better than the pictures! It feels private and has a nice path to the river. It deserves 5 stars, but it was our bad luck to be there during unusually hot days and I did get uncomfortable despite the fan. AC was not listed, so can only blame myself. I was just hoping to escape Texas heat a little more! That said, I would definitely recommend this as as great place to stay.

Comfortable beautiful cabin and setting
Truly a peaceful and beautiful setting. Viewed the river from the flagstone patio, where we also did stargazing and listened to the river, a short walk away. Extremely clean and well maintained cabin had everything we needed. Feels very private, even though it’s in a residential area. Very responsive host and management. Would definitely go back.

You have access to one of the best places on the Smith River, your own personal paradise. The owners do everything to ensure you enjoy your stay. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful outdoor space
Cute little cabin, but perfect for our family of 3. What was really amazing was the outdoor space, right on the river, plenty of seating including a hammock. We really enjoyed it. The owners were lovely as well.

Beautiful little cabin
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Owner’s thought of everything we could possibly need or want. Beautiful patio/ deck area to drink coffee or just chill and listen to the river. Quaint decorations and thoughtfully supplied. Would highly recommend!

You'll never want to leave.
An old, drafty, isolated cabin with a river somewhere in the distance? Nope. This property is in a populated yet quiet neighborhood (the fire house is nearby) off of the Redwood Hwy. The cabin looks like it could have been built yesterday with all of the modern amenities you would expect. It's almost more of a guest house as the main house is only about 50 feet away. However, with the large outdoor patio area and heavy foliage in between you won't feel claustrophobic. And that river in the distance? Well....walk down the stairs next to the cabin and you're there. Yes, you can swim in it. Yes, it is very, very cold!

Hello Mark, cc: to other VRBO owners I made a terrible mistake and gave this guest a bad review. This was simply a mistake, I thought they were other guests who left things a mess and didn't declare they had dogs. Sadly, I see that I cannot edit or change a review after it has been submitted, so I apologize for this. I will check more next time. These guests should have been given 5 stars for everything. Absolutely amazing!
Caitlin was an amazing host and very responsive. The cabin was clean, cozy and had everything you could need. The kitchen was fully stocked. And the river was absolutely amazing.

Heaven on the River
A cabin on the river. But not just any cabin. We ate most of our meals in and everything we needed was provided. The interior was beautiful wood and with the Smith River right outside, it was truly a vacation in heaven. There were multiple places to be outside. Down by the river with chairs provided. Around the gas fire place with comfy chairs. And a bench and chairs looking out on the river. We even saw river rafts traveling by with happy folks waving to us as they passed. Of course we waved back. We'll definitely be back to this special place on the river. And don't forget to hike in the first growth redwoods of Jedediah Smith.

Nice location, comfortable bed, ant problem
Really beautiful and peaceful quiet location. Overall the cabin is clean and well stocked. Unfortunately, within a day of our stay the small ants descended onto kitchen counters, bedroom dressers, bathroom counters and bedside stands in the bedroom. If the ant problem is fixed it will be a 5 all around.

Perfect River Retreat

Our family of 3 stayed for a couple of days over spring break. The cabin was nicely decorated and kitchen well stocked. The beds were comfortable. Communication with owners was great. Wonderful outdoor area with the Smith River just steps away. Close to many hiking and fishing areas. We will definitely stay again!

Stay by the River
This was my birthday trip and I have kept coming back to the Coastal Redwoods the last few years. This year I decided to stay on the North end by Crescent City. I found this beautiful cabin and couldn't wait to get there. It was everything I had hoped for. Beautiful scenery, cozy accommodations in the quiet little town of Gasquet. The sounds of the river were the only sounds I heard each morning. It was cool and crisp each morning, the weather was good and I didn't need for anything. The cabin was fully stocked with all I needed. Everything worked properly, and Caitlin my contact was so accommodating with any questions I asked. I wouldn't have had a better time. I highly recommend the beautiful place and I know I will be back again.

Fantastic Stay
Wonderful cabin, clean, amazing kitchen, full stocked and added extras. Warm and inviting, beautiful location, nice folks. If you need WiFI, which hopefully you don't, it's not optimal. There is a node from the house, but it doesn't exist. Everything else, fantastic.

Beautiful cabin perfect for our needs
The cabin was perfect for our needs with a very comfortable bed and couch, kitchen with everything we needed and the place was very clean. We enjoyed going down the steps to the river. Homey touches such as fresh eggs and lots of books and games. We had a great stay. Thank you!

A most beautiful, peaceful place
This cozy, lovely cabin was a perfect getaway for my dog & I. Upon arrival, it was immaculate with soft jazz playing and a soothing feng shui vibe. There were fresh eggs from the owner's chickens as well as fresh lemons in the kitchen. I left the bedroom window open at night to hear the river. In the morning, I could stand out on the porch, drinking coffee (in my bathrobe because there is no one around) and watch the river flow. This place is a real slice of heaven. Many thanks to the owners and to the caretaker, Caitlin.

Little piece of paradise
We were getting worried as we drove into the neighborhood which looked tight and congested but first impressions were totally wrong. As you enter the private gate, it is like entering a remote retreat. The owners home is on the property but we never heard them and barely saw them. The cabin is quaint but pristine. It is equipped with anything you could need. The location is perfect with easy access to all sorts of hiking. The property itself is paradise with steps to the beautiful Smith River. The hummingbirds, blue jays, chickens and river otters were super fun to watch. Highly recommended!

Total Tranquility on the Smith River
It was a great place to stay it was so nice listening to the river, a great location, and great a place for my 70th birthday, we really loved the easy access to the river, the cabin felt peaceful and homey the minute you stepped in. Loved the location of the cabin on the Smith River while exploring the redwoods, and the surrounding arears. The owners didn't miss a beat with their own personal touches in and outside the cabin we didn't want to leave and will definitely stay again and again. Relaxing, tranquil cabin and outdoor spaces
Very comfortable, well-appointed, and clean cabin- had everything we needed for a mother-daughter weekend. Multiple, comfortable outdoor living spaces with a nice BBQ and river views, with Access to the river via a short trail. We enjoyed watching the resident chickens meander together around the property. The hosts even brought us fresh eggs! The location was great- quiet, in the trees, and with the river being your only noise…yet easy highway access and very close to the redwoods via Jedediah Smith State Park. I was already planning return trips before we left!
