Room was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. Had a little trouble finding it because they didn’t list the full room number on anything, but management was very kind and helpful once I got in touch.

Nice place near the beach

Great location and area to be in if you like Fort Walton Beach. Not really a "beach-front" condo though as it is facing the pool area and the neighboring resort. You do get a partial view of the beach and ocean. Unit does not include any beach service, so be prepared to take lots of things to the beach on your own. Unit is clean and big enough for 5-6 people. Area is very close to restaurants and things to do, and you can walk to much of it. Nice place overall.

Great room and great view

The room was lovely and very clean. My inly complaint is the bed. It was so lumpy, i had to sleep on the couch. But evrything else was lovely.

Perfect location!!

Absolutely perfect in every way. Well stocked kitchen complete with blender and mixer, all pots and pans, absolutely everything you need. Amazing view of the pool and the Gulf. Easy access getting to and from the beach. Felt safe with my teens walking around by themselves. Very easy to check in, received my door code prior to arrival. Parking garage always had plenty of parking spots available and parking is very convenient to the room on the 5th floor.

Good spot

Overall a great place to stay, only issue we had was the sliding glass door is in major need of replacement, it barely moves, us ladies had to get the guys to open it for us every time, and there’s a big lip to step over when you go through the door as well that we all kept hitting our feet on. Other than that it was a great stay.

Exactly as Described

This property was great for our first family beach trip. The location is superb. Having a beachfront condo was so helpful having little kids. We didn’t have to mess with carrying a bunch of stuff to the beach. The amenities were great!

A few things to note...

I was given pictures & description of a completely different room than the one we ended up with. It was very confusing... especially when it says “facing lazy river.” But we weren’t even on that side... we were in 505 on gulf side. The room we were placed in had broken decor & missing pictures on the wall. The cabinets are in poor shape. We had to ask someone to unclog the bathroom sink upon arrival. There was no oven mitts to get hot pans out ......& there was no hair dryer! That was a first. :( We’ve stayed in other rooms at Destin West that were better. Our trip overall was good but the room itself wasn’t a favorite. A revamp & some thoughtful additions and this room could be very nice.

Good view and easy close access to beach

Great location if you want to be close to the beach. It can sleep 6 adults and has a full kitchen. You have access to the lazy river and pool on the gulf side which is nice.

Let down

Refrigerator didn't have ice or filtered water, dishwasher didn't clean either. Other than that ok. Tvs really small, AC filter was disgusting.

Fantastic Location!

We loved the location of this property. So easy to walk to restaurants and shops, the Gulfarium, mini-golf across the street and of course, the beach. The pool was a little chilly this time of year, but the beach was great. Views are nice. Loved the bunks with 2nd bath!

Pool NOT heated.

Nice balcony with west exposure, hot in the setting sun. Look left for great view of the water and beach. The pool just below your rental is gorgeous as well, has a great surrounding patio and is protected from the wind by the curve of the building. South west exposure so sun all afternoon with ample chairs and tables with umbrellas. Sounds great but contrary to the description for the rental THIS POOL IS NOT HEATED. Absolutely freezing, in the 60s. Not useable until temps consistently above 80. FYI, the Destin area is way cooler than most of Florida. Our visit was first week of April. Woke up to 37 degrees one morning to go fishing....high 62. There is a large hot tub at 104 in pool area which was fantastic. There is a very small heated pool under the villas that is a proper 87 degrees but half indoors and with no view, tightly fenced in with room for 2 tables and 6 lounge chairs. Beach is fantastic. Really great sand. Lazy river/pool on bayside is fun but also not heated and freezing. 2 smaller hot tubs over there with another small heated pool. Refrigerator not right. Ice maker/water dispenser doesn't work although management did get us some ice and ice cube trays to compensate. They were very responsive. Don't turn up the refrigerator above 2.....it will freeze all your food. Keep food off top shelf. Mostly a great unit. Great bunk area with its own bath for our daughter. Nice paint and decor although generally dated. Large TV cabinet in living area takes up a lot of space, meant for an old fashioned thick TV, instead harboring a small old flat screen. Not a smart TV, some sort of cable set up like a hotel. Generally clean but found a soggy pork rind along front edge of couch....gross. Maybe has to do with the general outside temp when heat or ac not really needed but the whole place seemed damp....like camping. Got pretty cold outside at night a few nights and windows were completely dripping wet with condensation in the morning after opening curtains. Had to towel them off to see out.

Family reunion

My family enjoyed this unit when joining the while family for a reunion. We had a great time! The views are great, and we had everything we needed (except for pillows for the sofa bed). Lazy river area is amazing too! If only the complex had a/c in the elevators....it would have been perfect! Thanks for a great vacation! We will be back for sure!😃

Good but not Great!

This was out 12th time to stay at Destin West, always on the gulf side. We had a great time but I felt like we had several things happen that really didnt have to. "Details take you from Good to Great" and they missed on several things. 1st- I was never sent the email invitation 30-days before the trip with info about the app. I had to call the day of checkin to get that info. 2nd- once we were in we noticed that there was no ice in ice maker and it was turned off. Not ideal if you want to make a drink when you get there. 3rd- we immediately noticed sand all over the balcony and the furniture out there. We swept up a ton of sand. You could tell they didnt cleaned out there at all because it was all over the furniture and they should have seen it (I have pics). 4th- The cleaners didnt check things that well because there was a swimsuit left from the previous renters that was in the living room behind a chair. They also didnt fixed the light that was out above the bar. There are only 2 so it should have been caught. 5th- we got back that night and noticed that the fan in our fridge wasnt working and it wasnt cold at all. I called to tell them and said that I even turned it up to the highest setting and it was still not blowing. So they blamed it on me for turning it up and freezing it up even though I just turned it up before the call. They sent someone out the next day to fix but it caused us to have to go get ice and put our stuff in a cooler. 6th- we were getting ready for bed and noticed that we only had 3 pillows for a 6-person until. We had to call the next day to get more delivered. 7th- the next morning after we stood in line for an hour to get the beach chairs & umbrella, we found out that this condo didnt come with those! Again this was our 12th time to stay in this resort and this was the first time Ive heard of this. I just assumed that all condos came with it. I think I saved $100 on the price from the other units I almost booked but that savings wasnt worth it without the beach chairs. I went back to see and the listing didnt say that it came with it but it didnt say that it didnt. 8th- the next night getting ready to go out to a nice dinner my wife discovers that there is no hair dryer in the unit. Again the first for us. 9th- we cooked dinner in one night and when we went to get stuff out of the oven, we found that they had no oven-met or holders. Although all these things are small but added up made it worse.
