I’ve been coming here for 25 years, and am never disappointed…The rooms are newly renovated and always clean with the patio door open to the best view in Encinitas…At night when everything gets quiet, you can even hear the waves crashing from your room…

It was remodeled and clean inside. The staff was helpful and friendly. We loved the view and enjoyed sitting on the balcony enjoying the ocean view.

This is a very small property within walking distance of the beach, that is a nice perk. We had a room with the kitchenette on the bottom floor. Very limited supplies for cooking and only 1 burner works at a time, 2 pans and no pot included. No kitchen towels, paper towels, or extra garbage bags included. Very thin walls, you can hear neighbor conversations and trains at night. Apparently the cleaning staff turned the fridge off before we arrived so all our frozen food went bad overnight, it was all cold when we arrived. The staff showed zero concern about our food being ruined. The shower head had zero water pressure, no stopper for a bath option and the toilet was running our entire trip. Small upgrades would make the stay much better, feels run down and not well taken care of.

We have stayed here before and again are very happy! Beautiful views of the ocean and a lovely balcony to sit outside. Our room is large and quiet and clean. The front desk is very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was very spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was close to the beach and also to many cafes and restaurants. I would stay here again.

Convenient and great staff. It’s a beach motel though, and the smell from being near the beach and just being an older property made it hard to sleep. Bring a diffuser to freshen up the stale air.

This is the second time I stayed at this motel and I really like it. My mom was with me this time and she was also charmed. The easy parking and beautiful ocean view are delightful. The beds are comfy, the staff is generous with fluffy, clean towels, and the extras like outdoor and indoor chairs - two patio chairs, two easy chairs, and two desk chairs are great. I think when the hotel replaces the door and the bathroom window, the noise from the train will be better. Also, we really needed a small shelf or table under the sink to put our toiletry bags.

This is a very small motel, so don’t expect anything more than this. Jennifer at the front desk is wonderful, very easy to work with, professional and helpful. The area is very nice , close to the beach and plenty of restaurants. The Ocean views from the balcony were amazing! They also provide you with beach chairs, umbrellas and boggle boards, but not beach towels, so bring your own. Also they have an assortment of free snacks and cookies, which come handy. Now to the not so nice stuff, the noice from the train is very loud and annoying. Water pressure was not great, but it was really hot, which was good. There is no lift , so it could be a challenge for elderly or guests with disabilities to get to the second floor. All in all, we really loved Encinitas and we will be back, we will just bring ear plugs!

Fantastic location 2 blocks from the beach. Free use of boogie boards and beach chairs. Very convenient and affordable. Facilities are what you might expect for the price. Basic but the location can’t be beat.

Moonlight Beach Motel is a few minutes from the beach, which was a delight. Clean bathrooms, and comfortable beds. Our upstairs balcony with an ocean view was a bonus! Coffee shop next door for breakfast.

The ice machine was very loud at 5 am. Not sure if someone was using it or if there was someone outside my room…room dor was missing a security latch on the door. There was a drunk homeless man outside on the sidewalk and the police had to be called.

Room was small property was run down and lacking for price we paid. No pool or hot tub. Place was dirty maids unfriendly and not safe at night saw shady activity and sex workers staying here. Guys coming and going at all hours of thr night guy knocking on our door at 4am waking us up and demanding we let him in no one in office to call and number we had to manger no one answered. Wont be going back a red roof or motel sex for half the price woukd have been better.

Dear Susan,We strive to provide our guests with a wonderful stay, so we were sorry to hear that you were disappointed with some aspects of your visit. As you are writing this over a month after your stay, it is difficult to look into some of your comments. Please know that our office staff would have been happy to help you with any issues regarding your room if you had spoken with them over the course of your stay. You are correct, we have no pool or hot tub (we like to think of the beautiful Pacific as our pool) but that is stated on the Expedia site. We are sorry if you didn't notice that prior to booking. We have been a part of the Encinitas community for over 40 years and have always provided a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for our guests. Regardless, it is apparent that you were unhappy and for that we sincerely apologize. We wish you all the best in your future travels!

Great Spot
Jennifer was very nice when she checked us in. Gave us a lot of info for food and things to do. They have equipment for your use as well when visiting the beach. Of course you just have to bring back. I loved the location we plan to come back! Oh and the ladies that were up front were very nice as well when we checked out.
