"Lovely clean luxury feeling guest house. A lovely chatty host who goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Lots of extras in the room such as a fridge with bottled water, biscuits, tea/coffee. The room had a full sized bath with shower and shampoo, conditioner, bodywash. Very luxurious feeling rooms. "We found The Duke to be 5star. Everything was perfect, especially the delightful young staff. Always smiling and very helpful. Decor was very sophisticated and stylish. "The property is a period house and the owner Chris has kept it to that style, very clean with a excellent breakfast cooked to perfection by Chris with a wide and varied choice of food. Whitwell is a designated dark sky area with some very pretty houses lots of thatched roofs,the local pub is only a few minutes walk and well worth a visit,the food is excellent. I would definitely recommend a stay at Kingsmede ,it fulfilled all my wife and I hopes"
