  • Come have fun in the sun or under the stars! “The Sandcastle ” at “The 4th Street Beach House” apartments is a newly remodeled one bedroom apartment. The Sandcastle is 4 blocks from the beach and boardwalk! Leave your car at the Sandcastle and walk everywhere. There is a queen bed in the bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. In the living room there is a smart TV along with wireless internet. The Sandcastle loves pets so bring them along! The Sandcastle has a large yard with plenty of parking. There is a shared fenced court yard with the upstairs apartment. Come fish and bring your boat boat! Carolina Beach has two boat ramps. If we do not have your dates available try our upper apartment listing the “Sand Bucket”!

Traveled with a senior pup (that is blind) stay was perfect as we didn’t need to negotiate stairs and fenced yard made outside time stress free.

Great place for a couple whether you have a dog or not! Located in a nice quiet residential area but still within a 10-minute walk of several restaurants, coffee shops, and the beach. We enjoyed being a bit further away from the noise and having the outdoor space. Very easy check in process.

This is our second year staying at the Sandcastle and another great experience. John is a great host, the place is in a great spot and super dog friendly. Highly recommend!

A diamond in the rough! Nothing fancy, but incredibly clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay again. Perfect for a short beach getaway with our 2 Dachshunds. Comfortable queen bed, dual Keurig, bug free and close to everything. Unit consistently stayed cool during temps in the 90s. It’s small, but perfect if you plan to spend most of your days out. Bathroom was nice and also very clean. Kitchen area is sufficient for small & easy meal prep. Bed tables were sufficient for CPAP users. Host was great and responded quickly with a couple questions we had.

Was slightly confused on arrival of which unit we were staying in as I didnt see in listing that the stay was in downstairs unit. Besides that minor confusion everything was great.

The sandcastle

Place is as described, and very pet friendly! Super convenient location to get to Carolina or Kure beach. We had a very nice stay.

A Wonderful Vacation!!!

This is the PERFECT spot for a getaway in Carolina Beach. Suzanne is a wonderful host. The apartment was very very clean, had great amenities and was quiet. Would 100% stay again!

John has an awesome place just 4 blocks, from the beach. It was wonderful with the fenced yard for our dog, Mason. Very quiet and walkable neighborhood. An EASY walk to the board walk, park, beach, lake park. Walking to the board walk you'll find Britt's donuts 1 each(CASH ONLY) and Huge slices of Benny's pizza for 7. Fort Fisher ferry is a short drive and worth the trip as well. We also visited the Cargo district in Wilmington which was awesome. About 20 minute drive. Johns place has outside shade, comfortable bedding and sofa. Pet friendly, with AC and full kitchen. Nice keurig if you're a coffee drinker. Our dog enjoyed the large space and made friends with the host- as he lives in the space above the rental unit. He's very friendly but also gives you space to do your thing and enjoy the yard. He offered tips or advice about local restaurants or travel in general. Great guy, very good to us and our dog. Thanks for a fantastic stay at Carolina beach- We'll be back!!!

Long weekend trip

We stayed just for long weekend, pictures representing exactly what we encountered. Had just what we needed, location to the beach was walkable, we recommend you bring a wagon to carry your gear. Would definitely rent here again.

Great Weekend Getaway

I stayed on the second floor of this property last year so I was already familiar with the area. Place is perfect for someone or a couple looking to go to Carolina Beach for a long weekend. Place is located in a safe neighborhood and is only about a ten minute walk from the beach. I will definitely stay here again!

Exactly what we were looking for!

We had a very nice stay at The Sandcastle. It was very clean, check-in process was seamless. Our pup loved the fenced in yard. It is not the biggest, but it was exactly what we needed. Would recommend and would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Beach weekend

We enjoyed our stay. The place is pretty small but efficiency of the small space is very well done with nice decor and appliances. The only issue is that we stayed downstairs and could hear the people upstairs walking around (it sounded like they were marching) and could hear their conversations. Our dog enjoyed the fenced in area and we made use of the outdoor furniture. Thank you.

You can't fight Mother Nature

My husband and I booked this property for a week in September. It was a bit small, but clean and comfortable with everything we might need. Unfortunately, a major tropical storm hit the day after we arrived, and our rental was flooded. Property manager and owner were very responsive. Our money was refunded within two days.

Perfect Beach Getaway

The house was exactly as advertised and perfect for my dog and I to spend a couple days at the beach. 4 blocks down from all the action (bars, restaurants, shopping), and 1 more block to the beach. Literally 7 or 8 minute walk to the ocean! The neighborhood was quiet and nice. Fenced in yard for dog with a grill, patio area. The house had fridge, stove, microwave, cups, plate, utensils, and a coffee machine with coffee. You could stay comfortably for a week or two. There was also a curated brochure about local things to do which was the absoutely nicest touch! Thank you so much for the stay!

We were very disappointed with our stay and ended up checking out early, staying less than 24 hours of our scheduled 2 night reservationThe listing was advertised as pet-friendly, which is why we chose it. However, at the time of booking, the listing did not clearly explain that there were two separate units on the property, or that the host would be staying in the upstairs unit during our stay. Had we known this, we likely would have booked elsewhereWe left our two dogs in the unit while we went to dinner, expecting that a pet-friendly property would accommodate normal pet behavior. About two hours later, the host messaged us asking to return because the dogs were barking. When we returned, we found an unknown individual walking around INSIDE the fenced in property. Naturally, we approached him, assuming he was the host, but he said he was not and walked away. That experience made us feel very uncomfortable and unsafeWe shared our concerns with both the host and Vrbo support. Rather than offering a reasonable solution, we were told we could take the dogs to a pet-friendly beach, in nearly 100-degree weather, which we did not find practical or responsibleIf you are traveling with pets, be aware that "pet-friendly" may not mean your dogs can be left alone for even a short period, and the shared-property setup is NOW made clear in the listing. You can hear movement upstairs. Was looking forward to a great 4th at the beach but ultimately, our expectations were not met

Mixed feelings

The house that we rented out was cute and very welcoming! We went on very hot days of the summer and the AC was great and hit the spot. The bed was uncomfortable. When facing the bed, the left side feels decent but the right side kind of dips to the middle. When we took the sheets off the bed (liked asked) we were shocked at the spots/stains on the mattress. The bathroom also had a spot of red of the wall, hoping it wasn’t blood. My boyfriend is a repair/handyman and there were violations within the stay but nothing to concerning. We only were at the place to have somewhere to sleep and keep our items. Overall it was an okay and a place to put our heads down for a night.

great location for a quick get away

First of all I loved the location. The property managers probably need to walk through with the cleaners to understand what they pay for when passing on to future tenants. Things I would recommend to the property managers is to put blackout shades in the bedroom and dining room since the sun is very bright early in the morning. They need to leave instructions on how to work the air conditioner since ours was froze up and I had to fix it the first night. There is a 1 inch blue light in the middle of the air conditioner panel that is very bright and I would have loved to known how to turn it off. Lastly, we were in the bottom unit and it picked up every noise the second floor tenants made. Since we were there only 2 nights, then we were able to deal with it, but if I was staying a week, the second floor noise from people walking, talking and going to the bathroom would drive me crazy.
