Come fall in love with all Cape Charles has to offer. Relax in this coastal living family home a short walk to Cape Charles beach or the shops on Mason Avenue. Enjoy the wraparound porch with plenty of seating. Harvest your own rosemary or mint or simply enjoy the aroma on the front porch.

Walk in the front door and watch TV in the family room with plenty of comfortable seating. Or walk thru the brand new kitchen with purified water at the sink. Grab a snack to eat at the eat-in area or more formal dining area with shiplap wall. Behind the kitchen is a large laundry room with a full washer and dryer, and a full bathroom. Continue to the backyard for outdoor seating near the grill. Enjoy the corn hole/sombo games for backyard fun. Coming back from the beach? Rinse off in the outdoor shower out back before going back in to relax. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout.

Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms and another full bathroom. Bedroom one has 2 sets of bunk beds and sleeps 4. Bedrooms two and three have a Queen bed in each and bedroom four has 2 twin beds. New broadband internet for faster, more reliable service. Two night minimum during the off season. During the summer months, Coastal Charmer accepts weekly rentals. Please give us a call with any special requests.

Guest Access:
We offer convenient door codes for self-check-in. Chesapeake Properties uses convenient keyless entry for self check-in, details provided 2 weeks (or less) prior to arrival by email and text message.

• Early check-ins or late check-outs: If the property happens to be ready earlier than the standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, in most cases an early arrival option may be available when confirmed with the main office. Late check-outs must be confirmed with main office staff prior to the date of departure.

The historic district and small-town atmosphere create a serene and inviting community. Enjoy the history and experience galleries, boutiques, bookshops, and beautiful beach! Cape Charles is located near the southern tip of Virginia’s Eastern Shore right on the Chesapeake Bay. Cape Charles is a small town (the historic area is roughly a six block by six block square) that sits on the peninsula’s western coast… meaning you can sit on the beach in Cape Charles and watch the sunset right over the water. On the Chesapeake Bay, not the Atlantic Ocean, the water is calm and shallow. The picturesque town of Cape Charles is filled with Americana, all about family and beautiful surroundings, voted one of the Happiest Seaside Towns by Coastal Living. Let the beach be your playground! Check out the walkable retail district, schedule a tee time at one of Bay Creek's award-winning golf courses, or take a water adventure for fishing and cruising.

Please pay close attention to following the house rules. Non compliance could result in sizable fines.
- All guests staying at an Chesapeake Properties Vacation Rentals by Portoro (Portoro Homes) are required to sign (esignature) a rental agreement and complete identity registration.
- Age restrictions apply. Reservation holder must be 25 years of age.
- Upon arrival, we aim to ensure your safety, proper access to the home, and guest features. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to Chesapeake Properties by Portoro directly.
- Known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
- Before check in, we will send you detailed directions to ensure a seamless arrival.
- Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is 10:00 a.m.
- We cannot guarantee early check ins or late checkouts. When it is possible to check in early or check out late, there will be a fee for anything outside of a one hour window within our standard times. If your need for an early check in or late check out is great, your best option is to book an additional night.
- Some homes have cameras for external monitoring only.
- HOTEL TAX COLLECTION: In the State of Virginia and in Northampton County, all hotel and vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. We collect these taxes within the booking transaction.
- Some homes offer pools/hot tubs, or access to communal pools. There is no guard around the water features when available. Use at your own risk.
- This is a No Pets property. A daily rate fee of $150.00 will apply for violations and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.
- This is a No Smoking property. Penalty fees for violations will apply and you may be asked to vacate the premises with no refund at the discretion of the Host.

Interaction with Guests:
Our goal is that your vacation exceed your expectations. Chesapeake Properties communicates via email and phone. After a booking is confirmed, rental agreement will be emailed to the guest for e-signature. Check-in instructions are sent by email and text message 14 days (or less) prior to arrival date. We offer convenient keyless entry for self-check in. We do typically check in with guests by text 1-2 times during their stays to ensure a 5-star experience and remain available for any questions. We are available to guests 24/7 for any inquiries.

Wonderful Place to stay at in Cape Charles!

We stayed here with 4 adults and 4 children (ages 11-13) and loved it. Check in and out was easy. The location was perfect and we walked to the beach and to all restaurants (we personally never felt like we needed a golf cart to get around). Wonderful backyard to hang out in and great open kitchen layout. The house was clean and we had no issues at all. We would definitely come here again!

We’ve been coming to Cape Charles for about 6 years now, and this was our least favorite property that we’ve stayed in. The location is great and the house is generally nice (the kitchen is especially great). The four bedrooms were nice for our family of 5. But we had multiple issues that were quite inconvenient, especially considering the cost of stay. The upstairs bathroom tub drain was clogged (property mgmt resolved this with Drano when we notified them). The downstairs bathroom shower was infested with small flying bugs and the shower was completely unusable. Property mgmt came and treated with bug spray, which didn’t resolve the problem but left horrible toxic fumes for the remainder of the week. So the downstairs bathroom was basically unusable. There were also ants throughout the kitchen and laundry area when we arrived. While the house has AC, two of the upstairs bedrooms do not have any sort of air flow and it was very warm at night. Even an oscillating fan would be a huge improvement. We had a couple other minor inconveniences that I won’t bother listing, but we were disappointed and I don’t think we’ll return to this property in the future.

Hallmark Moments

Our family stayed at this property for Thanksgiving for the last two years. We enjoyed preparing meals in the spacious kitchen, playing board games, walking to the beach for spectacular sunsets and spending quality family time by the outdoor fire pit. Love the location, Cape Charles holiday traditions and the homes lovely decor.

Girls weekend away

It was a perfect weekend away for a college girls’ reunion! It was located perfectly from the town and beach that we were able to walk everywhere. There is plenty to do with shopping, eating and relaxing.

Wonderful location in lovely Cape Charles

The front porch of the house was the perfect spot for reading and drinking a glasss of wine in the evenings. The house is a short walk to the beach and the cute downtown area. We loved the big open kitchen. It was perfect for gathering the group for dinner and had plenty of space for a few people to be preparing food at the same time. The mudroom at the back of the house was such a good spot for storing beach bags and gear out of the main areas. One thing to note is that the stairs are quite steep for very small children, but that comes with staying in a beautiful, early-20th century house.

Lovely and modern (but BYO water & ice)

We had a lovely stay at Coastal Charmer. Comes with a wagon and beach toys and stools for tall sinks and great open space for congregating. Very clean and functional, I was disappointed to see the water/ice on the fridge isn't connected (and they recommend bottled water), which meant an immediate trip to the store upon arrival. Beds are also very firm, if that’s your thing. Otherwise, I’d say this is a above average property for the Cape - we’d gladly stay again.

Great Location

214 Tazewell is a great property and within easy walking distance to the beach and shops. Backyard was very nice and house was very clean. Will definitely consider staying here again!

House dirty upon arrival no bulbs in half the lamps barbecue would not work for all the stuff caked on drip plates.No ice maker or water to fridge.Cats all over front porch day and night.Nothing left in kitchen but one roll of paper towels and salt and pepper.Floor is like a fun house upstairs mattresses are terrible

Going back next year

House has everything you could want or need when on holiday. Close to beach, shops and restaurants, or stay in and cook in an amazing kitchen. Bedrooms are good sizes. Sitting room is cozy for evening talks or sit and rock on the front porch. We will be back next year
