"We stayed for two nights and while the room could best be described as adequate, the public areas are spacious, clean and well-decorated. There’s a large car park; the food’s delicious and the staff are friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Although the room was small and a bit dingy, we’d stay again simply because the people are so nice."

"Had a great stay. Staff were wonderful. Meals in the restaurant were the best I’ve had out for a long time. I’d travel the hour just for the food. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. It would have been flawless if there was an 2nd pillow and the door from the stairs entry didn’t bang so loundly when people walked through. Both an easy fix. Would definitely recommend"

"The plough inn was very helpful when I booked the wrong night and needed to change it, the plough could have just kept the money but agreed to the change. The room and bed were comfortable, the shower however didn’t work properly, it was a small matter overall in our stay. Breakfast was excellent staff very helpful."

"On first inspection the room appeared cosy with equality fixtures and bedding, however the headboard was filthy and smelly. The bedside lights were full of dust. The carpet was grubby. The wardrobe door doesn’t shut The bar area carpet was dirty Table was covered in fly dirt. Food was poor."

"Location..it has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. ( need a car) Rooms are very comfortable, tea /kettle etc. Stairs are a little steep. staff are lovely ,had a very pleasant stay. We arrived Saturday lunch time, they had a party of 40 in, but fitted us in and it was delicious! staff attentive and it arrived quickly so all good, so I am very sad ( and surprised ) to say breakfast was poor ! we didn't opt for the buffet and cooked ,rather just the cooked, it took ages to appear...

"Friendly family business, good value. Comfortable bed and hot shower which was exactly what I needed after 18 hours of international travel. I stayed 2 nights in late September to attend a wedding in nearby Ripponden. The room was quite chilly but I actually like sleeping in a cold room. A space heater was provided, though I didn’t use it as the bed was cosy enough. It was handy that they served food downstairs and I really appreciated the vegetarian/vegan selections including veggie sausages...
