This inviting retreat combines the cozy charm of a cabin with modern comfort, offering ample space for families and friends to relax, reconnect, and explore.
Highlights Include:
Natural Light Everywhere: Oversized windows and vaulted ceilings fill the space with warm, natural light all day long.
Spacious Design: Four beautifully appointed bedrooms, each with easy access to a full bath, ensure privacy and comfort for every guest.
Inviting Living Area: Enjoy the open-concept living and dining room, complete with a fireplace and comfortable seating—perfect for game nights or lazy mornings.
Fully Stocked Kitchen: Cook with ease in the bright and airy kitchen with plenty of counter space for family meals or holiday feasts.

- Downtown Banner Elk (shops, restaurants, Lees‑McRae College, Town Park): ~0.7 mi away, about a 12–15 min walk or 3 min drive.
- Grocery & essentials: Both Food Lion and Lowe's Foods are just a 10-15 min drive away, offering full-service grocery. Essentials like the post office, pharmacy, and local markets are within a 2–3 min drive from the house.
- Grandfather Vineyard & several craft breweries and galleries: within a 5 min drive.
- Local trails and Shawneehaw Creek paths: ~2 min drive to trailheads near Mill Pond.
Spring & Summer Recreation:
- Grandfather Mountain & Emerald Outback Trails offer stunning hikes, wildlife habitats, and the Mile High Swinging Bridge – just 12 miles away (~20 min drive).
- Edge of the World Outfitters, located right in downtown Banner Elk (~3 min drive), provides guided whitewater rafting, rock climbing, and tubing adventures.
- Watauga Lake, perfect for boating, wakeboarding, and fishing, is about 20 miles away (~30 min drive).
Winter Sports & Activities:
- Sugar Mountain Resort, the largest ski area in North Carolina with 125 acres of slopes, ice skating, snowshoeing, and tubing, is just 8 miles away (~12 min drive).
- Beech Mountain Resort, offering 17 slopes, ice skating, snow tubing, and the state's only mountaintop ski bar, is about 10 miles away (~12 min drive).
- Hawksnest Snow Tubing, the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast with 30+ lanes, is only 7 miles away (~10 min drive).
- Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, open year-round and perfect for winter thrill-seekers, is just 3.5 miles away (~5 min drive)

- Repeat guests returning to Banner Elk Valley Overlook can receive a 10% discount.
- Internet is currently Satellite-based with a monthly data cap. It's adequate for checking emails and general web browsing but should NOT be used for streaming, videos, or gaming activities. Depending on your phone carrier, your cell phone signal may or may not work in this location.
- All BRMR homes offer well stocked kitchens with all utensils needed to cook meals. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, a couple garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens are provided for you.
- This home is not pet friendly. Thank you for not bringing pets to this home.
- AWD or 4WD vehicles are required during winter months. The road leading to this home starts as paved then turns to gravel and is moderately steep.
- There are parking spaces for up to 3 vehicles. There is a shared driveway, so please be conscientious and do not block the neighbors from coming and going.
- There are about 4 steps to enter the main level of the home.
- The owner uses a security camera to monitor the entrance and private garage.
CANCELLATION POLICY - Bookings canceled 30+ days before arrival will receive a refund of the deposit. Bookings canceled between 15-29 days before arrival will receive a refund of half of the deposit. Bookings canceled within 14 days of arrival are not entitled to a refund unless the reservation dates are rebooked to another guest. All bookings are subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
