This home features a fantastic location near Angel Fire's natural beauty and a spacious wraparound deck for taking in the fresh air and watching the local wildlife. Regardless of the time of year Painted Pony provides the perfect place to stay in the beautiful Angel Fire region.

This home is just over a mile from the mountain, providing great skiing and sledding in the winter months. Summertime visitors will have access to fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking, and mountain biking. Taos and Red River - both under 30 miles away - offers even more attractions.

Wrap around porch

Cabin was as described. Very clean. The only thing I didn't like was that it was not on a paved road. During our stay it was snowing and the road was very messy. I would of not booked this cabin if I knew it was not on a paved road.

Painted Pony

The house was very clean and comfortable. We loved sitting on the porch enjoying the weather and the peacefulness about the place. The kitchen is stocked nicely for cooking.

Beautiful but frustrating -

Saw past issues no hot water. Assumed it was fixed. Stayed (4nights, 5 days) After arrival, my brother, certified plumber checked the water, no hot water! Called the # to get the issue addressed. Were told the prior guest had the same issue, but they were able to get enough hot water for a quick shower. She said to boil water for showers. We had 4 adults and two kids aged 5 and 1. No way was that going to work! Rep. told us she would refund us half our money. We should have known about this issue prior to arrival. She said the owner from Texas was going to bring a new tank over the weekend. My brother offered to help install if the owner could get it quickly. Next day, rep. called. Reiterated we have no hot water to shower, wash dishes, wash clothing, or wash our hands. The rep said she had the authority to provide a full refund. With that said we thought okay we can make it work. Left on Sunday morning. On Monday I looked at our statement and we were only refunded $114.00! Thatā€™s not even one day stay at that place. Needless to say, we were not happy. I called the rep but at no surprise no answer. I sent her a text message and she replied that she did everything she could and to not be rude. I said you lied to us; we want our money. I also received automated text messages about our stay and provided the details in which I was told there would be a report submitted. This all happened on 3/18/2024. As of today 4/2/2024, we have received no answer and no additional refund.

More than was told

I asked if there were pots and pans thdy said no, there were. I asked about firewood they said no, there was firewood. Almost everything I asked about they (Vacasa) said no to but was there in the cabin.

4.5 stars for the property. I agree with most of the other reviews. The property was cozy, clean and comfortable and in a great location. Communicating with the property mgr was horrible. They provided nothing but canned responses and empty promises but no follow through. They never got the hot water fixed.

Wonderful Christmas

Beautiful area with well house layout and. Setting. Only problem when had was we carried to many items with us. Need a better method of listing items. Really would have helped in the kitchen. I phoned the property manger about what was available and she was to get back to me. Not one word, so we arrived with many unnecessary items.

Beautiful home

Such a beautiful home weā€™ve stayed at here in Angel Fire! Such a wonderful experience we had with our family! We loved waking up and seeing the deer especially my daughter and definitely enjoyed the rain we had over the weekend!

Better than expected

A charming property located in a great location. The cabin was clean and had plenty of space. Near the ski slopes. Would love to visit during the spring or summer so we could enjoy the deck. It was too cold outside when we went. Our only regret was not staying longer.

New Year Ski Trip

My family of five had an excellent experience at Angel Fire in the Painted Pony Cabin. The up-stairs master bedroom was very nice and our three daughters we able to each have a room by one staying upstairs on the futon couch. We have been to Angel Fire many times and partially picked this home due to the location. The driveway is large enough for 2 cars and there is no surprise steep driveways that can occur at other homes. Excellent home and excellent location for skiing.

Week Away

We were so very pleasantly surprised with how well supplied this cabin was! There was nothing that we needed that was not there. A list of what is in their beautifully stocked kitchen would be of benefit on the listing. Communication with Vcassa was not great. I sent them several questions, none of which were answered until we were halfway through out trip. They send out lots of automated information that is very helpful, but their response to specific questions needs work.

Perfect Home Away from Home

We love The Painted Pony. It is super comfortable and well appointed. There is literally everything you could need in the kitchen. The location is convenient, but still feels remote. Early risers may see the elk! I did try twice to contact the property manager through the Vacasa app and never received a response. It wasnā€™t the end of the world, but communication would have been nice. This is why the overall star rating is 4 and not 5. The property itself deserves 5 stars. We had a fantastic time.

Three nights at the painted pony

My parents and I had a great stay for a few days in Angel Fire at the Painted Pony. The space was great! Directions to use the TV, fire, and WiFi were provided. It was close to the main roads and not far from the ski resort, lakes, hiking trails. I did find some of the extra fees to be higher than I would have liked, but for the size/location I would say the stay is worth it--especially if you have a group of 4-5 and/or have a longer stay. I will consider staying again in the future.
