Owl House on Norris Lake

Welcome to Owl House on Norris Lake!

We invite you to visit our charming lakeview cottage. Owl House is named for the barred owl that my grandchildren & I have been amazed to see hunting in the yard. If you sit quietly on the screened porch at dusk, youā€™ll have a good chance of seeing the owl too!

In September 2024, we finally got approval from TVA for our dock and mooring buoy. Mooring buoy is in place and useable to lake level of 1012 ft. Full pond for Norris Lake is 1020ft and normally stays near that until late August. A small dock is afloat as of April 2025. We are still working on the ramp and offshore anchoring which should be complete in May 2025.

In September 2022, we upgraded the AC/heat to a mini split HVAC unit. This unit serves all rooms except for the sleeping porch which has natural heat and cooling.

The cottage is located on Persimmon Road. Lake access is available within a 5 minute walk (you can also drive). Sequoyah Marina is the closest boat launch and Anderson County Park is nearby as well.

Owl House was originally an Alphabet House built at Oak Ridge. We guess it moved to Persimmon Road in the 1950s and some modifications were made, including raising the ceilings and adding 2 porches and a deck.

Norris Lake was the first TVA lake, the dam was completed in 1936. The lake has over 800 miles of shoreline and almost 34000 acres surface area at full pond level. Itā€™s formed by the Clinch & Powell Rivers and is considered one of the cleanest TVA lakes. Weekly and monthly rates available.

This Property was a total lie

1. no key or lockbox found as stated on the web, found an open door.2. Beds are too short - feet hang over the edge.3. The smell was ungodly, possibly mold - home homeowner said it was just from being closed up all winter.4. The wall in the kitchen was disconnected - looks like the stove was the only thing holding it up.5. The dock they show in pix isn't what you get. 6. Pix makes property look close to the water - it isn't.

If you like Camping then you will enjoy The Owl House. If you like screened in porches with a water view then you have 2 to choose from. The Owl House is perfectly located in between Stardust Marina & Sequoyah Marina. Stardust definitely gets my vote for staff, entertainment & food!!! Their Fireworks display was top notch-canā€™t wait until next year!

Not the cleanest but close to the marina.

Place was very close to the lake and also to Sequoia Marina which was nice but the online photos showed a boat dock which we thought we would have access to from at the property but unfortunately that was not the case? We expected to be on the older side but was very disappointed in how outdated and unclean the place actually was. Dust, cobwebs, spiders and bugs all over inside and the floors were so dirty. The bathroom sink and shower was also very dirty. In the living room we were afraid to sit on the outdated very dirty couch that had a slip cover over it so we would sit at the kitchen table in a couple of the wooden chairs (each chair had a fancy skeleton skull design on them). The outside porch was where we spent the majority of our time while during our time there in a couple of lawn chairs that we had to clean off before we could sit down because they were covered in dirt as well. On a positive note the land was beautiful with trees and nature all around in which we saw some deer. The neighborhood was nice as well. A kind suggestion would be to hire a better cleaner and definitely upgrade to a newer couch/furniture that makes your guests feel welcome.

Owl house is the perfect slice of paradise

Just want to say wow šŸ¤© this location is amazing. We drove from Tampa bay to Norris and so was worth it!!!! Charles was amazing great communication , everything you need to enjoy the simple things in life to get away from the chaos of the world this lovely cabin has it all šŸ˜Š. While we stayed there the weather wasnā€™t perfection but better then the norm for us. We woke up to deer wandering in the yard, howling of coyotes at night and eagles šŸ¦… screaming in the afternoon, if that isnā€™t saying enough well then stay away. I give this cabin 10 stars ā­ļø . Thank you Charles for our wonderful stay you have a wonderful piece of heaven there on the lake . Highly recommend šŸ˜ŠšŸ šŸ˜ā¤ļø

This is a sweet property setting .Loved the nature feel. Lots of birds to hear on the wonderful screened in porch. This is a great place for family . We enjoyed each night playing board games with kids. Host was great meet any needs.

Who who. Who doesnā€™t love owl house?

We have stayed here multiple times. I always look forward to sleeping in the outdoor room. Our group loves sitting on the screened in porch. The neighborhood is fantastic for taking a walk. Loads of deer every night. Only upgrade I want to see is a small shade for the far right window of the outdoor bedroom to block the street light one road away. Itā€™s our annual place to stay at the lake. Great get away.

Relaxing like camping indoors

The cottage is old with cool history!!! It is very airy like sleeping outdoors but out of the elements! Everything is there that you need- chairs, laundry, water toys, awesome screened in porch. Walking distance to marina and water (bring beach shoes for stones) beautiful waters though!! The owners communication is the best I have ever come across in all my rentals!!

Beautiful & Quaint

We stayed at the Owl House last weekend while we were in town for a wedding. We really enjoyed it! Owner was spot-on on the description. My husband and I slept on the king bed on the covered screened porch. It was so relaxing and enjoyed it very much! It brought me back to my childhood when I used to visit my grandparent's river house as a child! The Owl House is a true treasure!

WORST STAY EVER,

First, the ā€œheadline read Cabin ON Norris Kake. In fact the cabinwas Not on the lake, across he road from he lake He describing Alā€™s referred to a ā€œviewā€ of the lake bu this was deception even also because there we so many trees across the street that it onl allowed for ā€œpeek a booā€ tiny view. There was not a working air conditioner, it was on the ; the overhead fan would only work on slow speed and rhe third fan would not work at all. This was particularly important because the master room was particularly important because it was very warm outside. There was also a screen that had come loose and needed repair which allowed for bugs to come in. My daughter was bitten by something during the night. The running water was not clear and was milky looking. So we bought bottled water; if there was a reasonabl explanation, the owner should have alerted the guests. Also there was a large concrete slab between the kitchen and living room which was ugly and made no sense; it was there in the middle of regular flooring. Every

Charming Country Cottage

Always a great time at the owl. The outside bedroom sells it for me. Plus they literally have everything. Even a dance floor, that I think a disco ball needs to be added. Bonus, my boat looks darn good parked out front. Tip-use Anderson boat ramp. Also be sure to eat the bfast buffet at sequoyah
