"My wife and I stayed here for one night 20-8-26, the place is really easy to find, located in a village out in the countryside a few miles from Carlisle. Everything about the place is great, the food, the beer, the location and car parking. Best of all are the staff, really friendly and helpful. We will be staying here again on our way home from Scotland in a week and am looking forward to it. The coked breakfast is huge and really good, as is the porridge. "Good central location for overnight stop in Penrith with parking. Decent size room, reasonably clean and quiet. Stair carpet filthy though needs replacement. Tea and coffee sachets not replenished, tollet roll holder hanging off wall."

"The bedroom was excellent,clean well furnished and appointed. The only small criticism was that there was a lack of comfortable space away from the restaurant space and bar but as we were only staying one night this didn’t matter too much. The breakfast was excellent and the bar food,whereas it was well prepared, was a little limited in choice. We would however stay again."

"Loved the old 17th century beams in the rooms and the uneven floors. Property was very quiet - even with the Football World Cup semi-final on while we were there. Staff were all incredibly helpful and loved the breakfast. 100% recommend and would love to take my dog next time as they are very dog friendly (they get a sausage at breakfast!)."

"Don’t bring a cat - there’s no room to swing it in the bedroom. And the TV was comically small. That being said, it was clean and tidy and the food excellent. Staff also very friendly."
