Firstly, the awful smell of drains which had been unsuccessfully camouflaged by several air fresheners throughout the apartment. Secondly, due to the fact that the basement bedroom is directly under the street, the only hope to a good nights sleep is by using ear plugs to block out the constant noise from above and a sleep mask to block out the continuous bright light coming through the glass...
