"A wonderful place to stay in Sutter Creek, which is convenient to nearby vineyards and wine tasting establishments. It’s also across the street from a friendly local farmers market on Saturday. I ate breakfast outside in the cafe downstairs while listening to the folk musician performing at the market. The room was quiet and comfortable. The only small con was having to carry our luggage up 2 flights of stairs to our room. Bonus—fresh scones delivered to our door and fresh coffee down the hall....

"I wish I could give 10 stars to Chef Erik and the staff at the Union Inn. We had a great weekend stay and highly recommend the hotel and restaurant. The room was very nice and the dinners and breakfasts were outstanding."

"This was the first stop for us on a 3 week California road trip and from previous reviews we were anticipating a warm welcome with a wine and snacks reception then a hearty breakfast next morning. Sadly we were a bit disappointed. We were welcomed by the owner and had a glass of wine but then never saw her again. "This hotel is a real piece of history and is decorated and furnished accordingly, so don't expect king sized modern beds and air conditioning. However, if , like me, you appreciate people taking the effort to give you an unforgettable experience of how things used to be, this is the place. The town itself is a lovely reminder of what the Gold Country was like in the late 1800s with lots of old buildings along a main street. "We visited Sunset Hills in April, and it was so beautiful. Quail were browsing outside the sliding glass door. The grass was bright green and trees were leafing out. So beautiful. Very close to Sutter Creek where the shopping is fun, and the food is fabulous. Next time I want to swim in that beautiful infinity pool and sit by the fire table in the evening. Thank you for a great stay!"

"Had a fantastic stay at Il Respiro! The pool is fantastic so we spent most of our time going down the slide! Would be great if there were plastic cups and plates since you'll likely end up mostly outside taking advantage of the fresh air and watching the local wildlife."
