The property was just as described when we were booking our stay. The views from our room, and the pool area were amazing! The communication from the Caliche team was great, we were contacted by email as soon as making our reservations, giving us recommendations for our ferry transportation over to St John once arriving in St Thomas. They also gave us a few local vehicle rental places and offered to do our shopping for us to stock our refrigerator prior to our arrival. The day of our travel our Caliche team member sent us a text message basically giving us step by step directions on how to get there. I would definitely recommend Caliche if you're thinking about a St John vacation! Counting the days until we can return!

Such a wonderful trip, the staff were so helpful starting with email communication a few weeks before our visit, text messages day of arrival ensuring had accurate directions to the villa and an in person greeting and tour to answer all of our questions. It was everything we wanted and more!

Hands down, the most beautiful views in the Virgin Islands--perhaps anywhere! Loved the Royal Palm unit. Loved having our own "home" that was outfitted with everything we needed. Be sure to rent a Jeep and use waze to get up and down the mountain--there are a lot of tight curves!!

Property is in a very good condition and the view is A million dollar view !!! The only negative (which is also a positive) it is 30 min from Cruz bay …and very little food available around (restaurants etc) otherwise - freaking amazing !!!

Many issues were made significantly worse, in our opinion, by amateur/immature employees at CALICHI: McKenzie and Parker! Parker calls saying the hotel never received payment for the Villa and our rooms were given away…but he would call back to confirm after contacting the accountant. (This trip was confirmed and paid in full four months prior. McKenzie emailed and texted 1 day prior saying I would need to move villa’s and when speaking she started yelling that “that was my agreement with Alex, not with the property.” Parker said he “would get us dinner on the hotel, paid for or “a couple of hundred dollars back” for us having the inconvenience.”” That was never honored. When we entered the Tower Villa, we realized the AC units in both the bedrooms were broken. NO AC!! To get to the punchline, McKenzie said to move out if you don’t like it and Parker yelled that the group in the same unit who stayed 9 nites prior didn’t complain. He said that “even though we were spending THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, we “should keep the windows open for the cool breeze as he sleeps with the window open. Or sleep in the living room,” (with floor to ceiling windows with no window shades.) Parker thought I was “thoughtless to expect AC.” Parker later admitted that the units were down “days prior to my coming with the hurricane, when there was a day that the unit went out of electricity four times from lightning strikes.” He said we are “on a rock and it will take at least 2 weeks to get fixed.

Jason Melnick, I'm sorry your stay didn't go as planned. A few days before your arrival, Parker called you to confirm payment and to make sure your card did not get charged twice. Since we were transitioning to new management, he wanted to clarify. You then stated you had a bad taste in staying at Calichi. When I met you upon arrival, you said to me "Alex said we have to change houses" I said that is correct. Your wife asked if you could stay in the Tower that night and I explained "No, i'm sorry, there are guests in there and you will have to move tomorrow." Both you and your wife knew about moving villas weeks before your arrival because our bookkeeper called me and said you were harassing her about your stay. Your comments to me upon arrival were gross asking me if I was even American and I looked "native." Once you moved houses on July 4th on a Sunday, you noticed the AC in the bedroom was out but the main AC was still running. You called both Parker and myself multiple times demanding it gets fixed. Parker called Dr. Cool immediately to resolve the issue but with it being a Holiday and a Sunday, we did not get an answer. Since we live on an Island in the middle of the Caribbean, we have to order parts, we can not just go to a big factory and get what we need, this was also explained to you and yet you were still upset. You then called me at 7pm on that Sunday yelling at me that I knew the AC was out and I was lying, which, I didn't! We did have guests there for almost 2 weeks that did not say a word to Parker or myself. I did not go into the Tower villa upon your arrival to notice the AC was out. I never once yelled at you nor did I tell you find somewhere else to stay. I spoke with you once on the phone, which was July 4th and said if you have any other issues with maintenance to reach out to Parker because that is out of my wheel house. I can provide my call log and show text messages between us. I do however have a nasty voicemail, as well as Parker and Dr. Cool that you sent to us. You did want a full refund and Parker told you, the owner will give you a 100% refund if you found a new place to stay and Parker even offered to help find you a place to stay and you said "no, I am not leaving." which was fine, but a full refund will not be issued. I was on the phone every time Parker called you to fix the problem and you were incredibly rude and swearing at him and we even have texts between you two of you swearing. You also contacted my mother-in-law who just got out of the hospital non stop harassing her, the owner and Dr. Cool after you left the property. Your review is a complete lie and looking at past reviews, you can clearly see that! Parker and I try our best to go out of our way to make every guests stay memorable. I'm sorry you had a terrible time.

There is no better place to stay with a break taking view! This place is literally a dream! There is no doubt that this is the only place we will stay when we come back to St. John! The staff is so nice, informative, and communicative!

This is hands down one of the most beautiful properties we’ve ever booked! Parker and McKenzie went above and beyond to ensure our stay was impeccable and gave us fabulous recommendations. This was our first time visiting St. John and all I can say is WOW this place was AMAZING!!! Calichi had the most beautiful views, a stunning villa, and the pool and the hot tub were like nothing I have ever seen before! McKenzie went above and beyond to make sure our stay was IMPECCABLE and I will forever treasure this awesome trip!!

We stayed at calichi at picture point for 5 nights and are grateful that we chose this villa for our stay on St. John. First off, the complex and the villa are absolutely stunning. Waking up to that view is absolutely breathtaking. The complex also has an amazing pool, hot tub and putt putt area. What sets calichi apart from other places is the service that we received. We rented a jeep from a smaller car company on St. John as they were the only company that had cars available on the whole island and two different Jeeps from them broke down. Parker from Calichi went above and beyond when the cars broke down. He helped us push the cars off the side of the road and contacted the car rental company to aid with the situation. Parker also helped us get a functional jeep from penn’s car rental and helped set up taxi rides when the Jeep’s broke down. We are forever grateful for Parker’s help and can’t thank him enough.

No water for a week
Calichi is a beautiful. The views are great. If you want to stay on more a secluded area, this is for you. I stayed for five days each day we did not have water. Maintenance had to be called each day. We had to use the pool showers to bathe. Renting a car is a MUSt there are no shuttles. Calichi is about 30 minutes from the mainland. Fully-stocked kitchen for groceries. If you don’t plan on cooking & driving this is not the place for you. 2/5 stars due to us having no water. Communication was decent.

I would give 100 stars if I could. This place will blow your mind how spectacular it is. This is my third time going to the Virgin Islands In St. John and this by far, is the best place to stay nothing else on the island compares. The views, pool, hot tub, and quality of rooms were beyond superb. The owner is spared no expense to give us the ultimate luxury experience. Trust me, stay here! You won’t regret it.

Wow! This place is awesome! The owners arrange someone to meet you in Cruz Bay to get you to there and familiarize yourself with the Villa and property. Off your deck, off the pool, off the hot tub, the views from this property are simply amazing! The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The villa was top notch and the best place our family has ever stayed. Enjoyed this more than all-inclusive resorts we've been to. This place has all you need to have an amazing vacation. The kitchen has everything you need to cook or grill awesome meals. There's a great little Dolphin Market at the bottom of the hill .5 miles away to get everything you need. We chose this end of the Island for easy access to the National Park Hiking trails and beaches. So glad we did to shorten the crazy left side driving on winding roads. Did the pretty difficult/steep Johnny Horn trail the 1st day to Waterlemon Cay Hike where you'll be rewarded with awesome snorkeling around the Cay on a very secluded beach at your half way point. 2nd day we planned on going to Maho Bay to see Turtles but wanted to hike Cinnamon Bay self guided 1st. So glad we did because we ended up having a beach day there. Awesome beach with GREAT snorkeling around the island to the left where we did sea turltes an more. 3rd day we headed south and did the Salt Pond Bay/Ram's Head Hike - the best hike we did. Lots of changing terrain and great views and cool breezes at top. Beautiful beach! Thank you Alex, Amy, Sabrina and staff

Calichi was a great as we hoped it would be based on the pics and other reviews. The roads to get there are a little more rustic/steep than I'd anticipated, so I would recommend renting a Jeep. But the views from that high up were amazing. It was an amazing trip, and we can't wait to go back to St. John and Calichi. I'm almost scared to recommend it because I don't want it to get so popular that it is always sold out!

Pros The property is beautiful. The villas and location stand out as the nicest ones on the island given that the rest of the island is shockingly underdeveloped for a U.S. territory. The views are breath taking and stunning. With lots of places for great pictures. The beaches are beautiful and well worth the hair-raising rides to and from the property. The property is on the less developed side of the island so having staff meet you at the ferry to escort you there was a good part of the package. Cons Technical issues: Upon arrival, we had several issues with the satellite, Wi-Fi, and power during our stay. It was obvious that the property had either been struck by lightning or had a large power surge which took out all of the electrical systems. The staff was completely unaware of any issues. After several conversations with the staff, we discovered the guests before us reported power issues and no one followed up to make sure the issues were addressed. The best advice we can give the management is to make time to inspect all systems in the villa, before your guests arrive. That way you are proactive and not reactive to issues with the property. Customer service was sorely lacking. We experienced an inappropriate incident in the common area on the property in which the management did a poor job in following up. Mostly words in reaction to our concern, but no action to express concern. We were not even given a respectful thank you and have a safe trip after we left.

The property had one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen directly out of the living room and bedroom. It was equipped with everything you possibly would need, from cooking to regular life stuff. And the pool area is absolutely amazing! The property manager was very friendly and helpful. There was no complains at all, except that the bathroom didn’t smell good at times (possibly because of a septic tank or pipes?) But I am sure if we would have contacted the manager he would have solved it right away, but we didn’t so it was on us.

WOW. We stayed at Calichis Gauva Villa June27-July2. It was absolutely better than we had hoped. The view is unlike any other ; breathtaking . The pictures don't do it justice ! Communication is excellent with the owners , the property is immaculate clean, and the quality of every detail is top of the line . The villa was quiet , private and cozy, it's like we were floating on top the clouds in our own little peaceful bubble ...perfect for our honeymoon/anniversary trip :) The pool and hot tub are the best we have experienced... heated , clean and relaxing ; with AmaZIng views ! Anything you can think of that you may need is in the villa ...they thought of Everything! The WiFi is great , and we even streamed our Netflix series when we were winding down for the night :) It's the only place on the island that our service was actually good . You won't lose power like other places on the island because Calichi is all solar and battery powered . Everything is extremely comfortable ...the bed, pillows , the towels , the couch ...even the outdoor furniture and beach chairs are comfy. We can't say enough good things about this place . We travel 3-6 times per year to many places (Hawaii, LasVegas,East /West US coasts Caribbean...)this ABSOLUTELY the nicest, most comfortable enjoyable beautiful place we have stayed. The only advice we have is rent a Jeep; you will be driving up and down a mountain(paved roads). Calichi is something everyone needs to experience in their life:

I hesitate to review this property for fear of giving away this gem. The pictures do not do it justice. It's gorgeous and the owners spared no cost. They took their time with the details and amenities and their commitment shows. It is like being on top of the world. We had coffee on our deck in the morning and wine on the roof deck with the fire pit at night. After a day at the beach, we sat in the hot tub and met nice people at the pool. Only caveat is you have to be comfortable driving up and down the winding road to the top of the mountain. Alex and his dad are so nice and helpful. Wonderful property.
