"Food was excellent, whether breakfast or dinner there were so many choices and all we had were delicious. All the staff were encountered were friendly, helpful and efficient. The Sunday dinner we had on arrival was best we'd had out in a long time. Our room was enormous, bed was so comfortable so no problems sleeping. Lovely thick carpet. Bathroom was beautifully warm. Plenty of warm water for the shower, lovely fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. We really enjoyed our stay...we...

"O hotel possui uma bela infra-estrutura. Porém deixa a desejar na qualidade dos quartos. Móveis antigos, banheiros com aparência de sujos e bem antigos. Para quem vai utilizar as dependências do hotel, vale a pena. Para quem quer conforto no próprio quarto, nao recomendo. Até a televisão parece ter sido uma das primeiras tvs LCDs lançadas (sim LCD e nao led). Para um hotel da rede Mercure o quarto deixa muito a desejar. Nada a reclamar da piscina, spa e outros. Restaurante muito bom também! "

"The hotel was very nice only a few things I would say they should tell you when checking in that they have maintenance work going on . Also they leave say if you want your room cleaned you should leave a note on your door by 11pm which is could yet not putting a note on the door they still came in your room and took the key out of the room which I find annoying"

"Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. "Staff were great, the hotel looked stunning and the grounds were amazing. The breakfast was delicious too. The room we had was in the attic so I kept hitting my head, the main light in the room was above the doorway which was around a corner so didn’t really help at all. There was water and hair in the bottom of the shower when we arrived as if someone had only just had a shower. There were patches of damp in the room around the window and on the ceiling."

"Lumley Castle is steeped in history. The layout of the communal rooms is a little random and not brilliantly signposted. Staff are all very helpful. Restaurant was good quality. Breakfast good. The rooms lack a few amenities like usb or even plugs by the bed. Soap and shampoo is all that is provided in the bathrooms, which is unusual for a more luxury branded hotel. All small things but would make a difference. but overall it was a very pleasant stay."

"We were in the annex but did not enjoy this area the room is very basic and the heating did not work we have had better appointed rooms in less expensive hotels .the front of the hotel is in good decorative order but if you have a walk round the castle there are areas which are in a poor state of repair,when we walked around the grounds we were disappointed to note a lot of dog poo had just been left lying about this is something the care taker should be aware off .
