> And the traditional BONDE Tram (direct to CENTRO over the top of the ancient LAPA ARCHES) stops right outside the next door castle’s cast iron front gate fence opposite the GERMAN BAR.
> Abundant, inexpensive - all day/all night - local RJ city yellow TAXIS and UBER drop off and pick up just below the villa front gate.
5: VILLA LAYOUT & ROOM CONFIGURATION: The villa has 2 reception rooms, 2 dining rooms, 4 bathrooms, 6 bedrooms with 10 beds & 15 bed spaces, 3 work spaces & big BB area and outdoor dining terrace
6: VILLA LOCATION FOR RIO's BEST EXCURSIONS: The villa is located within 5-25 minutes of ALL of Rios best tourist excusions and has direct views of - SUGARLOAF - OCEAN BAYS - FLAMENGO PARK - TIJUCA RAINFOREST - URCA - GLORIA MARINA - SANTA TERESA - HARBOUR BRIDGE.
7: MISCELLANEOUS: GUEST ACCESS: Villa guests have exclusive use and control over the whole house - all villa gardens & outdoor areas - including the BARBQUE & swimming POOL.
SECURITY: Security is second to none with electronic code gate entry and the villa itself locks up like a box with the original riot proof colonial house door locks and window shutters making the villa impenetrable when locked. The villa is accessed from a private gate in a well lit lane just opposite the Explorer Restaurant and Garden Bar - just off Santa Teresa's premier avenue - Rua Almirante Alexandrino.
SMOKING: Smoking is allowed on the outdoor terraces and gardens but not inside the villa.
WALKS: Santa Teresa has great walks with stunning architectural and harbour vistas plus great views of the forests and escarpments of the Tijuana National Park which overlook the seven hills (yes just like ancient Rome) of the Santa Teresa suburb heritage area from the high mountains above. You can safely walk down the hills to the GLORIA METRO or FLAMENGO PARK [use Rua Candido Mende OR Rua Santa Christina by the Explorer Bar and Restaurant - down to on the coast line below or to the shops and bars of Catete and Flamengo/Laranjeiras.
BBQ COOK & DINNER PARTY CHEF: LOCAL BARBEQUE & BRAZILIAN CUISINE COOK: Ana - can can prepare Brazilian and Barbecue cuisine including European, Tropical and American salads, pastas, etc. She also cleans up the villa kitchens and guest plates etc after the meal. She can be engaged for dinner or lunch or even breakfast. She can prepare traditional full meat, chicken, fish, or vegetarian barbeques or a combination of all or some of the above. The barbeque fuel (charcoal) is provided by the host. Most guests find it easier to purchase all the food materials themselves so they can directly determine the price and quality of the produce and Ana does all the preparation and cooking with the guest supplied materials. You can purchase pre-packaged salad bases (at the local SUPERMARKET I recommend to guests in the arrival instructions) and engage Ana to prepare fresh salads - like chicken, shrimp, crayfish, avocado, Italian, or garden salads - using these salad bases - or using fresh salad vegetables purchased from the supermarket or a local fruit & veg market. If this is of interest to you - contact Ana and discuss and reach an agreement with her about the specific cuisine you need - the attendance days and hours - cook remuneration - and an agreement in regard to the supply and delivery of the required food.
Nothing is paid to VRBO or to the host - You pay Ana the agreed fee directly in local cash (or by bank transfer) on the day of service. Normally Ana charges R295 US$60 a day) for a barbecue lunch or dinner. ANA is contactable by WHATSAPP - details are supplied afrer booking:
DINNER PARTY CHEF: CIDA: Also on WHATS APP: If you require a dinner party chef - give CIDA - who specialises in both International and Brazilian cuisine - a call and if suitable reach an agreement directly with her. She offers more specialised dishes such as Salmon with passion fruit main course - Brazilian beef dishes - fish or chicken entrees - and delicious local or international deserts - and is popular with guests having a special dinner party or birthday celebration. Cida generally supplies and serves the food and she also provides all catering equipment and serving dishes suitable for a special occasion dinner party and charges a chef catering price per guest.
OVERNIGHT PARKING: Parking is outside the front gate of the villa - the area is patrolled at night by police and local apartment building security guards so it is very safe and secure. The local police station is just around the corner about 60 metres away. In 5 years, none of our guests with cars have had any security issues with parking at this location and nor have we had any security issues with the house and gardens in the 5 years we have owned it. Some of our guest groups - travelling from Sao Paulo for example - have had 3-4 cars which they have parked during their 3-7 day stay without any problem.

A Fantastic Holiday!
A group of 9 of us from the UK and France went to Rio to celebrate a 6oth Birthday.
We chose Alex’s house because of the central location, views and pool.
We were not disappointed. The house is in a trendy area filled with bars and restaurants and is a Grand Old Lady perched near the top of the hill.
It is a historic house filled with charm - a bit quirky and interesting and we liked it very much.
Alex was a great host and dealed with questions about the area and the house very quickly and in a professional way.
We also thought the house was very good value and would recommend it and Alex for a holiday in Rio.

Wonderful for families
Dear Alex, thanks so much for hosting us at the Vila in Santa Teresa. We all absolutely loved it. The kids had a total blast exploring the pool, the garden, and every other little nook and cranny in the house. And we also had completely underestimated how much we’d love the neighbourhood. Santa Teresa is every bit as charming as they say, and the Vila is a great place to explore it from. You’ve been a wonderful host, extremely transparent, super helpful, and we’re very thankful for the wonderful memories you’ve offered us.
