We had an oceanfront room on the third floor of the south tower. The room and view were Lovely and the staff was very helpful (even though my room wasn’t ready and it was past the 4pm check-in time). After going to sleep, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a very loud sound I can only describe as a wind tunnel…I was awake most of the night because of it. In the morning I asked if anyone had complained and was told maintenance would check. It wasn’t a motor cycling or any other equipment and could be heard outside the room and down the hall. Less than 45 minutes later, I’m told the folks in the adjoining room left their balcony door open and they would be asked to close it. Seriously!? I got an oceanfront room to hear the ocean and would have had mine open a bit but it made the sound worse. I next asked to cancel the second night and was told it couldn’t be done. They did move me to the second floor oceanfrontt and upon opening the balcony door, the sound was back… not as bad as the top floor but still audible. Never again at this hotel, and I am surprised at Mariott. To top it off, my parting gift was parking fees for the two nights for a total of $40. This was after I asked about a second vehicle and they told me street parking was free since it was off season. Unbelievable. This was most definitely in my top 3 worst hotel stays ever.
