"This is a tired hotel. Reception was fine, the walk to our room past chipped paintwork and on faded carpet led to our room which had rusty hinges in the bathroom, a rusty plughole in the sink, and an extractor fan that was not working. On the positive side, comfortable bed. We did not pay a fortune for the room and it was only a one night stay. Just needs a bit of TLC"

"Beautiful location set back in large park; rooms are in a purpose-built annexe behind pub, so no pass through noise (although pub was generally quiet and very nice, especially the garden); easy parking; short drive to Hepworth Museum; breakfast was delicious; friendly and efficient welcome. Great option for those looking to break up journey between London and Scotland, or just visiting the area."

"Disappointing one night stop over. Its more of a business traveller, conference & private events venue than a country house hotel. Suite 15 is directly opposite the kitchen extractor fan which is on from before 5.00am until the kitchen closes at night & can easily be heard in the room. The room only had one bedside table & lamp, the glazed entrance is fitted with opaque glass & is the only window so there is no view. If you could see out you would be looking at the car park. "All night reception was brilliant as I booked to stay after a wedding and hadn’t checked in before hand. Bed clean and comfortable, bathroom had everything needed and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The only thing that let it down was at breakfast we missed out on being offered toast and I didn’t get chance to ask for decaf tea when I was brought normal tea. Otherwise, absolutely lovely and it accommodated lots of the wedding party."
