Welcome to Sellwood Retreat, a beautifully designed and newly constructed two-bedroom guest house located in the heart of Portland’s charming Sellwood neighborhood. Perfectly situated just four blocks from Sellwood Park and the scenic Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, this peaceful getaway places you moments from a variety of waterfront trails, local parks, and nature escapes. You’ll also find a fantastic selection of restaurants, coffee shops, and entertainment options all within walking distance or a short drive from your front door.

Tucked privately behind the main home, Sellwood Retreat offers a quiet and comfortable stay with thoughtful outdoor amenities. Relax on the spacious deck, complete with ample seating, a cozy fire table, and a BBQ grill—perfect for enjoying meals al fresco or unwinding after a day of adventure. Inside, the open-concept layout features a modern eat-in kitchen that flows seamlessly into the living area, creating a welcoming space for gathering and relaxing. A convenient half bathroom is located on the main level.

Upstairs, you’ll find two beautifully appointed bedrooms, each featuring a queen bed and designed for rest and comfort. A full bathroom serves the upper level, and the entire space has been thoughtfully curated with stylish furnishings and décor that balance warmth with contemporary charm.

With downtown Portland less than five miles to the north and Lake Oswego the same distance to the south, Sellwood Retreat is ideally located for exploring all that the region has to offer. Whether you’re visiting family, working in the area, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this serene and stylish retreat is the perfect home base for up to four guests. I have mixed feelings about our stay here. I’ll start with the positive:-Check in and out was easy.-It was a perfect sized space for two people.-We loved the reclining couches.-The shower was clean and stays hot for long time.-Outdoor space very nice, spacious.-The space as a whole feels homey.-The location felt very safe and was walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops, and grocery stores.Things that really bothered us and need improvement:-Both beds are very wobbly and noisy when making any slight movement. There was also a brown stain on one of the bed sheets, so I wondered if they were actually washed. They didn’t smell freshly cleaned. I noticed there is no laundry soap next to the washer…-The AC unit above the bed in the left bedroom leaked water and spit ice onto the bed, soaking the bedding. The unit also had black film on it, potentially mold? I messaged the owner/property manager about this to have it fixed, but they did not address it and stated that it’s been a problem for a long time. I also read other reviews mentioning the issue.… why wouldn’t they just replace it then?-The bathmat in the bathroom was visibly dirty. I had to lay a towel over it.-There are brown stains on the curtains in both bedrooms-I had to replace the batteries in the automatic garbage can lid.Overall, I would not stay here again. Due to the issues mentioned above, it was difficult for us to get comfortable during our 5 night stay. For 2k it did not feel worth it.

Nice space, but room for improvement

The house, deck, and yard are really nice spaces. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet, and the location is great. Walking distance to several amenities. Parking in the driveway was a bonus. Unfortunately for our stay there was some lack of upkeep and otherwise lack of attention to detail, so room for improvement. These were communicated to the property management and should be rectified.

Great neighborhood and immaculate home

We visited our son who lives in the Sellwood neighborhood. Very safe and walkable area! Excellent area for exploring and close to Portland. We fit in a ton being in such a great location of Greater Portland. Super quiet and clean!!

Amazing Escape in the Middle of Portland

This location has privacy, safety, and super close to downtown. The management team is amazing. Additionally, the house was clean, modern, and a home away from home and super cozy. The neighborhood was very inviting with great amenities close by. I would definitely stay here again.

Epic Spot!

This was the perfect place to stay for 4! We enjoyed the outdoor space and the open feeling between the kitchen and living room area. The beds were comfortable as well! Loved walking around Sellwood which is so close by, too!

Great location and place to stay

This property fit our needs perfectly for the week as we were taking our daughter to the area for a roller derby camp. We were able to cook like we normally do while also walking for coffee and other things. Plenty of places to eat and visit to keep us busy. Its a great walkable quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed sitting outside during the evenings on the ample places to sit. The only disappointment was getting a text message while driving that there was an issue with the units AC. It seems to be an ongoing battle as other have mentioned issues. Being a trouble shooter though I figured out the issue (reported it) and hopefully they are able to address it in the future. So for me and my family it was technically not much of an issue but without knowing the north bedroom and living room both need to be running at the same time to cool I could see where people would be unhappy about it. Hopefully my feedback/input helps

This was a gem of a stay! We so enjoyed the house, lots of nice touches outside with lighting and outside seating. The beds were comfy, house was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed for the weekend. We really enjoyed walking to restaurants and shopping.
