Everything looks nice in the pictures, but is actually broken, poor quality, or annoying. It’s like no one has actually tried to live here.
Check in — the cleaners ran 2 hours behind, so after a 4 hour drive with little kids, we couldn’t actually check in bc they were still cleaning the house.
The security system - the alarm for this house is ridiculous. It went off while we were checking in. It’s super loud and scary. My kids were terrified. It went off again while we were putting our kids to bed (they were now thoroughly scared of the house and wanted to go home). It went off A THIRD TIME at 2AM. Finally someone came to the house the next day and had to disable the entire system. They hung up battery operated smoke and CO alarms (which fell off the ceilings randomly for the next few days, once again scaring the hell out of us and our kids).
The kitchen — this kitchen may look nice, but it is not useful or practical. Upon arriving, we were informed that the refrigerator was not working (they fixed it on day 3). The fancy induction stovetop had 2 operational burners out of 5 (after they tried to fix it, none of the burners worked, so we had to use an electric hot plate for all our cooking).
And if you have kids, FYI there are no kid-friendly dishes, cups, etc. Also, for adults, there are only plastic wine glasses.
OH, and if you try to use the coffee maker and toaster at the same time (like you might when, I don’t know, cooking breakfast), you will trip the circuit breaker. At one point, none of the outlets in the kitchen worked. So we had to make coffee in the dining room and cook eggs outside on the hot plate. The basement is locked so we had to wait a day for someone to come flip the breakers back on.
Porch doors — yknow those pictures of the beautiful porch doors that open wide with a nice view of the ocean? The manual literally tells you NOT to open them. We didn’t bother even trying anyway, because we were so paranoid that the alarm was going to go off again.
Beach towels — they gave us a bunch, but many were dirty and had long hairs on them.
Paper products — we had to ask for extra toilet paper and paper towels. I get trying to save money and keep your margins up, I really do. But skimping on things like paper products (and getting the tissue-paper-like poor quality stuff to boot) is just lame.
Just to be fair, the Pros: beautiful view, clean house, nice bathrooms, 10-15 min walk to the beach.
