"I was a walker arriving at the Nag's Head at 15.30. I was warmly received and shown to my very comfortable room. Although the restaurant was closed on a Tuesday evening, i was provided with a wonderful Chinese meal at a very modest cost. I requested a continental breakfast which was fine. Pick Hill is a lovely small village with a long history, some of which is displayed in the ancient church. "

"Lovely clean room with a nice bathroom. Perfect for a short stay. Came with tea/coffee, a television and free WI-FI. No mini fridge. We didn't need one so it wasn't an issue. Breakfast was lovely with a choice of hot food and a continental breakfast. No road noise or unusual bumps in the night so had a wonderful, peaceful sleep. Useful parking at the rear of hotel and easy access to the town of Thirsk. Overall a lovely stay. Lovely staff. Lovely food and a lovely part of the world. "

"We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you (without being over bearing). The whole place was spotless, the food was impeccable and it was very dog friendly. We wish we could’ve stayed longer! "

"Good stay overall. What i would say is dont expect it to look like the pictures we was but when we got there looked like a block of flats. Breakfast wasnt the best tbh very little on offer very basic but it was included with our stay. For the price you cant go wrong as nesr york its double the price. "

"Room was large, big bathtub. One corner of the room had moisture damage, and mold, perhaps from a roof leak or condensation. Pub was cosy. Food tasty. There is nothing else to do in Sandhutton. A critter scampering, and chewing in the attic above our room kept us awake most of the night. "

"Plenty of parking, room good, bathroom good and breakfast good. Not enough tables in the dining room for breakfast "

"The room was absolutely filthy - even the kettle was dirty. The bathroom had black mould in it and there was mould / damp above the bed. The window didn't open so we couldn't even air the room. I dropped some clothing on the floor and when I picked it up it was covered in dust / dirt and small curly hairs... I know the room was cheap - the furniture was all very old and dated which is fine but the very least I expect from a hotel room is for it to be clean. The breakfast was the only redeeming...

"The room I was given was much older than it appeared in the photos. The carpet was not clean, and there was a strong unpleasant smell as soon as I entered the room. The bathtub glass in the bathroom was dirty, with mold covering the edges. The walls in the room were also in poor condition, with peeling paint and visible damage in several areas."
