Based on the Vrbo listing, the pictures, and prior communication with the owner, we felt comfortable with our choice. Once we arrived, we quickly realized the house’s maintenance, cleanliness and appearance were not handled properly before our arrival. When we arrived we were met with broken yard lights that lined the driveway. When we arrived we did an initial walk through of the house. It was apparent the floors had not been properly cleaned. Shelving and the stair railing had not been dusted. There was hair left in the sink of the hallway bathroom. A fitted bed sheet was used as a curtain in one of the rooms. The list unfortunately went on. (Check pictures)I notified the owner immediately. Initially, he was responsive until I sent the photos and then I didn’t hear from him until 7:22AM the next day. I asked for a cleaning team to come out. The cleaning team arrived later that night. Prior to that I asked about three times for him to confirm their arrival. As a guest, we pay with an agreement to take care of the house that we are using for our time away. It was VERY unfair that the homeowner did not keep his end of the deal by providing us a clean, well maintained place.
