Just steps away lies the famous La Palette café which, at the turn of the last century, offered talented young artists from the nearby Ecole des Beaux-Arts free meals in exchange for paintings. Among these artists were Cézanne, Braque and Picasso. One of the restaurant’s two dining rooms is classed as an historic monument and still contains celebrated works by artists who dined there more than a century ago.
