The apartment is right off the Place de la Contrescarpe, a fun area but very noisy for sleeping and rest due to the late nightlife.
Upon entering the apartment building one is greeted with a strong sewer smell from the entrance way sewer. One then passes through another gate and goes up one set of stairs (no lift) to the apartment.
While the building may be historic, the apt is a cheap/fast Ikea makeover that lacks charm. You can tell it was done for the tourist rental trap market.
The apartment has no AC, which is fine. But it also has no dehumidification. The entire place felt damp and the small ceiling fans weren't sufficient for air movement.
The listing says there is a washer and dryer but there is only a washer and no way to dry the clothes.
The host communicated well until the front door stopped working. We returned the second night of our stay and 1 of the 2 provided keys did not work.
It was late and after contacting the host via chat, text, and phone, we got no response. VRBO, once contacted, couldn't contact the host either.
We were forced to find a hotel at 1 am but still needed access the following day to get our belongings from the apt.
The host responded at 8 am. He had no way of entering and requested our key. Instead of calling a professional locksmith, he called a handyman who used a drill/blunt force to break the door.
The host then billed us for the damage but ultimately said if we left a good review he'd refund us for the damage. Stay away!
