The Inn at Deep Canyon appears to be an old apartment unit that was bought out and switched over (fine by me) with minimal updating. The outside pictures posted online really do make it look halfway decent. Especially the aerial shots. But when you come to stay and look closer, it’s easy to realize the place is in fair to poor condition and in need of some major TLC. It’s not vintage…just worn down.
When I arrived for my stay, they informed me that the heating elements for both the pool and hot tub were out. Since this property advertises these features so much, it was a bit of a letdown. Not the end of the world though. Unfortunately it was downhill from that point onward.
I’m surprised how highly rated this location was for cleanliness. My bed contained a pillow that had short hairs all over it (like someone had shaved their face and laid into the pillow). It was obviously either not changed out or it had been poorly laundered. Some of the walls were also dirty near the bathroom. A simple wipe down by housekeeping could have probably removed much of the grime.
However my biggest problem was that the room had mosquitos in it! I’m allergic to some species and was bitten several times on my forearm and ankles while sleeping the first night. I had swelling/pain around both ankles and my forearm that became extremely itchy for several days. I know it was mosquitos because I heard their signature high pitched buzzing sound around my ears a few times. Once noticing the bit
