The Family Lake Place- 3 Bdrm- Year Round Hiking, Boating, Fishing


Our family lake place of 50 years is the perfect home base for your next vacation to the Olympic National Forest.

Spend your days kayaking Lake Cushman or hiking the many nearby trails, then return home to a dog-friendly living space, a wood-burning fireplace, and a selection of board games, books and movies for your entertainment.

Outside, there's a large deck for socializing and dining. Off-street parking is available for 4-6 vehicles, perfect for getting together with friends.

A private community park and boat launch are just a few blocks walking distance and a parking pass is included. Boat launch requires an additional fee per day of use however not required for kayaks that can be carried to the beach.

The cabin was built in 1970 and still retains many of the charming decorative details of that time period. We love having a lived-in space to relax with our family and friends and we hope you do as well.

Accessibility: This is a 2-story home with the main sleeping areas and full bathroom located on the upper level. Stairs must be used to enter the home from either the front or back door. The community park is located down a short hill from the home, but you can use the provided parking pass to drive down if you would prefer not to walk. We have an additional single room apartment with full bath and kitchen attached to a large gazebo next door as expansion option. Ask about the Gazebo apartment. and it is only rented with the house as an upgrade. Advertised rates are for the main house only, please inquire for extra bed option.

Wireless Internet access and online TV included.
Pets are allowed with some restrictions so that you don't have to leave Fido at home.

Why the Owner Chose Lake Cushman: My family built this cabin to be the summer and winter get away for hiking trips and lake activities. Lake Cushman is a favorite vacation destination for many people as well as a full time home for others because of its unmatched beauty nestled in the Olympic mountains.

Our stay was magical at the Family Lake Place. From the time of reservation, Corlen was quick to respond, answered any questions, and made us feel so welcome. All the logistics of the reservation, check in/out, questions in the hoe were so smooth and easy.The place itself was perfect and in a warm way, mirrored our family. A little retro, cozy, not overly luxurious, well-traveled, and had everything we needed more. We appreciated the sweet decorations in the Christmas spirit. The surroundings were quiet and surene.

Had a great time! Super stocked cabin!

Directions were clear. Getting in was easy once my husband figured out the lock box (we are old and dumb, lol). Huge fridge--everything you need is in the kitchen. I would recommend bringing your own non-stick pan, however, if you aren't used to the stainless steel. There was a learning curve for me. TONS of games and books. The upstairs is extra-cool with a family room, big TV, and beautiful windows! The deck situation is amazing! Beds were cozy. My entire family was happy to visit and sad to leave. Thank you for being such a great host, quick to respond to questions, and giving our family a beautiful weekend.

Lake house

Great stay at the lake house. Home was perfect for my two adult children, teenage kid and myself. Good memories were made. Don’t skip out on the nearby staircase trail. It wasn’t even on my list of to dos prior to arriving but was probably my favorite hike in Olympic national park. The house has every accommodation. Great propane grill and we loved eating our meals on the deck.

Family lake vacation / work trip

I was in the area travelling for an extended work trip. We stayed from May 29th through June 23rd, great value for the area. I decided to being my family along for the trip because they were all out of school and work for summer break. We have relocated from the Mason/Kitsap area to Phoenix about 3 years prior and have lots of family and friends in the area. The Family lake House was a good fit for our clan. We also reserved the optional gazebo and loved it. The private lake park, view and neighborhood were all very nice. Corlens place is seg up well fir extended stays and family gatherings. I've rented many VRBO'S and Air-bnb's over the years. Some are well stocked and some are not. Corlens place had an abundance of everthing we needed and stuff we didn't even know we needed. We really appreciate Corlen and his place for allowing us to gather together and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Although it is a little outdated, everthing worked and had a nice homey feel. Took us back to our younger years when things were simpler. The house was more spacious than the pics seemed in the listing. If we ever have the chance we will be happy to stay at the Family Lake Place again. Thank you Corlen!

Amazing Lake Place!

We spent our 2nd Memorial Day at the Family Lake Place and like it so much we brought another family with us to share the experience. The property is perfect for a long, relaxing weekend near Lake Cushman, including lake/park access and all the in-home amenities you’d expect. Corlen is a wonderful and communicative host who ensured we had a great stay. 5/5 stars and already planning our next trip!

A peaceful retreat by Lake Cushman

Our family (two adults and pup) had a relaxing Thanksgiving break at the family lake house! There was everything we needed in the kitchen, lots of cozy spots to read, and easy access to the lake at the neighborhood park. We’d love to come back in the summer with a bigger group!

Magical Group Retreat

Overall, stay was wonderful. The plastic chairs that were out on the outside deck had pitch on them. They should have been put away, so that sap was not able to get on them before we were using them. But overall, great space, everything we needed, loved the huge dining room table and the covered gazebo was priceless

We stay at the Family Lake Place every year! We always enjoy our time there and the property accomidates our family perfectly. Between the main house and the gazebo, we can all relax and have space to unwind and come together! See you next year Corlen :)

Great place for families

This is our fourth year renting this lake house and we love it! Great for large families as you can rent the extra gazebo space if needed. The house has everything we need and is within short walking distance to the lake. We love the private beach - it's clean and has a volleyball net which we take full advantage of. The owner is very accommodating and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Lovely Cabin

I come to Cushman every summer. My friend and I loved staying at this property due to how close it is to the private park and swim area. The house was so cute and classic. It was VERY hot during our stay but the house had plenty of fans to run to keep us as cool as possible. Love this house and will definitely return.

Amazing house tucked away from city hustle and bustle.

Property is in a great location away from the hustle and bustle. We used it as our base camp for seeing the National Parks. We had everything we needed and Corlen always responded quickly if we had questions. Would definitely stay there again!

Great home base

Great place to stay while going to Olympic National Park. The little town center of Hoodsport was about 30 min away and had a grocery store and cute little coffee shop that we went to most days. Plenty of space and the backyard has an amazing view of the lake.

New Year’s Getaway

Loved the property and neighborhood. Tons of character in the cabin and lots of room. We went to do some hiking at ONP and the proximity was great. It’s a gorgeous area and in January very quiet and peaceful. The house has a cozy room with a fireplace for family games and a big room upstairs for movies and games. We loved the retro vibe! We’d love to come back with other family members for a group stay!
