The property was fine - clean, decently well maintained. There were things that made it feel like a rental - odds and ends that weren't in great shape - handles that didn't work, trim/floorboards that were dinged/dented. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was fairly well stocked, checkout process was easy. My biggest issue was communication with the owner. I asked 1 week in advance about early check-in. I don't ever expect a property owner to grant early check-in. I understand most properties may not even know if they can grant an early check-in until a day or two before your own check-in date. However, I didn't hear anything back from the owner for 4 days. At that point, I contacted the owner again. I still did not hear anything back from the owner. I waited 2 more days and finally called the VRBO customer service and advised I was unable to get in contact with the owner. VRBO personnel called the owner, who then finally responded to me via email. They granted an early check-in, which was appreciated. They then asked if I had received check-in instructions via email yet. I advised no, this was the very first contact I had since booking the property a month ago. On the way to the property, we realized we hadn't gotten check-in instructions. I had to again call VRBO to call the owner who said VRBO is the one who was supposed to send the check-in email, and put the blame on VRBO, although I had told the owner I did not get check-in instructions 2 days ago.
