A completely renovated, beautiful Creole cottage in the Marigny historic district and steps from the trendy Bywater. Both neighborhoods are full of restaurants and nightlife, including the world-famous music hub on Frenchmen St and minutes from the French Quarter! Legally licensed by the City of New Orleans. A quiet retreat from the action, making it great for 1-2 couples, small families, or business travelers! Sleeps up to 4 people.
This historic shotgun double has been remodeled completely, so you can enjoy an 1850's home with original hardwood floors, decorative brick fireplaces, pocket doors, and 12-foot ceilings--and still get all the modern comforts of fast internet, streaming TV, chef's kitchen with marble countertops and high-end appliances, granite bathroom vanities, central air/heat, tankless hot water heater, and more! Also enjoy a nightcap or coffee on the private galley porch!
The house is close to active train tracks. It is charming but can be loud at night. Guests are provided with white-noise machines and earplugs.
Your space is completely private with a separate entrance. You will have access to the entire home, including a private bedroom, bathroom, laundry closet, gourmet eat-in kitchen, and living area with dining table and luxurious Thomasville pullout bed.
We live next door and are available to offer recommendations, answer questions, and help with whatever you need. We want you to have a fun, private, and relaxing stay!
Neighborhood: The Marigny is "the" place to be in New Orleans; it's full of food and music venues - a mix of long time favorites plus new places opening almost every month. It has all the charm of historic New Orleans - it's the second oldest neighborhood - and all the buzz of a fun place to live and visit. There are lots of fun bars and restaurants in the neighborhood and in the adjoining Bywater. The house is a short walk to Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter. St. Claude is a block away with all of its restaurants, music clubs and multi-use spaces with tons of terrific music, art and food! Also convenient to City Park and the Fairgrounds / Jazz Fest.
Getting Around: There is ample free street parking near the VRBO. The Marigny and Bywater neighborhoods are very walkable. Electric bikes are available for rental from many nearby "Blue Bikes NOLA" stations (download the app). There are also streetcars nearby (download the "Le Pass" app for maps and schedules). If you are returning from the French Quarter or Frenchmen Street after dark, we suggest you take an Uber back to the VRBO.
