Great House - Great Location

Lost internet/TV for 36+ hours - apparent owner issue with provider. Master bedroom TV never reconnected with internet rendering it as unusable. Smoke detector in master bedroom went off at 5 am one morning - there was no smoke or fire. Turning ceiling fan off switch off solved the issue. Elevator was not available for use. knives in kitchen were very dull and needed sharpening.

Ford Rental

We have been vacationing at DeBordieu over the past 19 years - ALWAYS a positive experience. However, this year, both the rental and DeBordieu have made our experience confusing, knit picky for more money, slow to respond to request of non-functioning elevator - said someone would be sent - but did not happen the entire week. Warning parking tickets given with no explanation that parking in ok place not allowed after 11pm in Ocean Park, etc. Overhearing homeowners speaking negatively about newer rules should make both authorities rethink for future years. The Ford property was very well equipped. 5th downstairs bedroom with washer, dryer and elevator in it was both surprising and inconvenient. Upstairs space was excellent as were the several porches, hammocks and rocking chairs. Extremely convenient location to the beach!

We had a good time and loved the proximity to the beach, the front porch, and the air conditioning. We do think the owners should consider the following if they want people to continue to rent their house: 1). WiFi - doesn't work well - slow and inconsistent; texting slow - should be an easy fix that would be extremely helpful. 2). TV upstairs - couldn't get it to work. 3). Oven doesn't work well - 45 minutes at 350 had our dinner in need of much more cooking at a higher temp. If possible, have it re-calibrated - or at least leave directions so others know its idiosyncrasies. 4). Some toilets don't flush well - handle must be held down extended time to get it to flush properly 5). The grill is small and dirty 6). House desperately needs a second garbage can outside. While we made sure to put as much trash out as possible for Friday pickup, we still had plenty in the can this morning, something that will be a problem for your next renters since Tuesday is the next pickup day.

Home suggestions

Our family enjoyed being at the Ford house for the week and found it well stocked for our cooking needs. We look forward to returning next year. There are a few things that we think the owners would like to know for the comfort and enjoyment of their future guests. 1). The toilets run slow, not always completely emptying, so a plumber might need to be called to check on the plumbing system. 2). The WiFi is weak, which can be a problem since families often come with a variety of devices and sometimes have to do some work while on vacation. 3). The charcoal grill available for the renters to use is too small for the size of the house and its occupancy. It also still seemed warm two days after it was used, which could be a safety issue. My family was afraid to put it back in the garage. 4). The front bedroom is warmer than the rest of the house. Overall the air conditioning is great, except in this room. We love the proximity to the beach and the front porch. One of the hammocks came out of the wall when my son was on it, causing him to fall flat on the floor, but maintenance was prompt in fixing it and checking both of the hammocks to make sure they are safe. Thank you.

Great Family place

This is a very good location. While not beach front it is across the street and there are several bathrooms at the beach access which is great for kids! House actually has more bedrooms than indicated as the trundle bed is in a small office space & can sleep 2. There are 2 rooms with just twin beds. The upstairs was great for the children as there is a play room with a tv off of the 2 rooms w/ the twin beds. The 2 downstairs bedrooms are on opposite sides so it's like everyone had their own space. The laundry area is in one of the downstairs bedrooms which is a little awkward. The queen mattress in the downstairs bedroom is extremely excessively hard. It was so unbearable that we brought the twin mattresses from the trundle downstairs & slept on those. There is a Keurig instead of a regular coffeemaker. Loved the hammocks on the front porch. Saw lots of deer, bunnies & foxes on morning bike rides! Must bring all of your own beach chairs & toys as none available for community use. Also no salt & pepper, any spices or foil, etc as we have typically found when renting other houses. Possibly eliminated these things due to Covid? Perfect place for 3 couples & 4/5 kids. And dinning area is a very tight space. We squeezed in 9 but 2 of those were 5 yo twins so can't get any more than 8 adults into that space making it difficult when we had some guests.

Ford House

Great location and comfortable house, perfect for our family of 8. The house is stocked well with extra amenities not usually found in rentals. There were 2 snafus, the elevator was not working which was a problem as mother has knee issues. The garage door spring rusted out and was inoperable. However the maintenance staff is excellent and tended to the issues though elevator was down for a week. I want to commend the staff at Peace for their pleasant and helpful responses. Also again thank you maintenance for all of your help.
