"The property was over priced for what it is , I had called the hotel to ask about adjusting dates due to a family emergency and the front desk person stated she would contact the manager and get back to me but I never heard anything and no mention at check in either ……. The hotel is okay but I would expect better at the rate they charge , they did however give a water bottle at check in but I’d preferred they keep the gift and charge appropriately………"

"The Wessex Inn is well located on Cowichan Bay and very affordable compared to other properties. We experienced excellent service and found the remodelled room (with a king bed and kitchen facilities) clean and comfortable. The view of the bay from our balcony was a nice bonus. The location is excellent, conveniently situated right off Highway 1, making it easy to get around Duncan and the surrounding areas. "Very accommodating to early check in request. A very cosy little cottage just a tiny bit on the small side. Two suitcases - not a lot of space to have them both open. Very clean, great area - peaceful and beautiful grounds - views were lovely. Would def stay there again if in Victoria. Was not able to take advantage of the breakfast unfortunately, but the menu looked delicious!"

This Inn does feel like it is a family business: staff take the time to engage in conversations, provide helpful tips and answer a multitude of questions. "Arrived 9 pm but was nice someone still there at desk to greet me. Very friendly. Room large, very old motel. Needs bit of an upgrade, as old bare bones, looking its age. Bathroom could use shelves, as small sink area, and need a plug for bathtub!! None to be found. Loved large kitchen space. Clean and well maintained for its age."
