Unacceptable
The actual hotel and our reserved room was CLOSED- we were given a condo BUT - the number of beds did NOT meet our reservation OR our needs The indoor pool was also CLOSED - the main reason we had chosen this location as we were there for a mid-winter break with 5 kids The lack of transparency about the 2 items is unacceptable- both from the hotel and hotels.com The reception staff was kind and understanding - they have no control over what is presented to the public UNACCEPTABLE to pay the outrageous amount and not get anything that you paid for (oh and the restaurant was closed too and the fitness center argued about allowing us to come in to use the basketball courts)

This property is in need of some serious renovation. This is a nasty place to stay. Our room was not clean, the sheets had stains and we purchased sheets from a local Dollar General to be able to stay. We were there for a football game and could not find other accommodations or we would have left. If I could give a score of zero i would! Especially after spending $300 a night... This NOT a resort. The pictures on the website don't reflect the reality of our experience...

So disappointed.
Cigarette butts everywhere. Cart by guest entrance full of dirty tampons and trash. Grocery bags flying around. Not enough towels when reservation was for three people. No ice machine available. Renovated areas with open doors on third floor with dirt everywhere. I found these looming for ice. Told there was a restaurant on saturday but not told it wasn’t open. My family and I dressed for dinner at 4 and found empty restaurant. Night clerk vaping at main entrance last night at 11. Scratches on walls in room. Elevator button broken and elevator felt like it would fall at each stop. Not even allowed to walk out and look at lake Sunday before leaving. My spouse has terminal cancer. Clerk Sunday was very rude. So sad that this place has gone so downhill.

super outdated, hotel room was very cringe and displeasing. bedding had rips and appears VERY old. no outlets (gad to uplug lamp to charge a phone) funky odor from AC/heat unit. the golf course looked bland. the cleaning staff snd front desk were very kind and friendly, though.

We seemed to have visited while some golf tournament was going on so our room had no mini fridge or microwave- it’s the little things that make the stay- our bed was comfy but the light shade on the desk was badly broken and whoever they got to repair the walls from some kind of damage in like 4 areas didn’t match the paint color well or the finish as the walls were in satin while the patch was in semigloss- just something I picked up and thot was not up to par to what you paid for a room- I would expec5 that kind of appearance from a Motel 6- we had spiders in our bathroom- one dead in a corner of the tub one alive in the tub area

Definitely misleading pictures on the website. This property wouldn’t be that bad if they hadn’t charged almost $300 a night for a room and “resort” that hasn’t be updated in this century. For that price so far from the college I was expecting an updated room with a beautiful view and resort amenities. It was neither a resort, nor was it a “lake view”. Whoever made up the room had no clue how to make a bed…the dust ruffle was hanging off the bed and was dirty and the sheets weren’t even tucked in properly. There were also remnants of streamers hanging from the ceiling which gave the impression that the room had been used for a party at some point in time. The bed itself was too low to the floor and shifted every time you moved. There was a random jacuzzi in the room that was not in the room description and not a pleasant surprise. The elevator has not been inspected in over two years and we opted to use the stairs because it was evident that it needs to be shut down. The front door of the lobby is literally hanging off the hinges. It appears they started renovating the lobby but beyond that gave up completely…along with simple updates such as the 2019 golf prices on the wall by the elevator. This place needs some TLC and more reasonable prices. We really considered leaving and finding some place else to stay but ultimately didn’t want to be out $300. The only thing the room had going for it is it was relatively clean (aside from the dust ruffle).

Overnight stay
The room has never been updated - old furniture, old bathroom, limited internet. I was surprised that a resort had a hotel room and overall establishment in this condition. Even the door to the resort was broken.

Rooms were outdated and musty. While seemed to be clean and sanitary it didnt smell clean. We stayed here 2 yeas ago during remodel and while the entrance looked nicer the rooms still lacking.

Disappointed
When I checked in the lady working the front desk was speaking very sharply to the guest in front of me, who was a senior citizen. The employee kept rolling her eyes impatiently. I booked two rooms because we had 3 adults in our party. I checked in with my husband and 18 year old daughter and the lady looked at me and said in a low voice, said, “I assume he is your husband?”The rooms could not be further apart and on different floors. We asked for rooms closer and we were told nothing was available. The parking lot was practically empty. The elevators were not working, the pool was in a state of disrepair. The doors to the outside had been stripped of the locks. The railings were rusted out. The carpets were not vacuumed. There was a gator parked just outside the side door full of trash. The TV remote in our room did not work.

No restaurant open. The check in person knew virtually nothing about the property but was very nice. Beautiful facility but pretty tired. Elevators out of order.

Hello Joanne, It appears you experienced some issues during your stay with us. Allow me to first apologize.Our restaurant is closed two days a week and open 11am-10pm the rest of the week/weekend. We have hired some new staff who are learning the ropes. I apologize that your questions may have not been fully answered. We are working very hard to make sure all staff knows all that is needed. As the only people staying at the resort we should have figured this one out. Doors not opening with hand written notes to use other door which also didn’t work. Elevator out of order. Ballrooms and comman area without any furniture. We literally did not see any other guest. When we left at 6:45 am next morning no workers visible as we left. Really bizarre

ou first come in) look really nice but this is deceiving. I booked a room for my daughter and I based on the website photos, availability of a pool (for her swim therapy) and proximity to WVU. The hotel seemed vacant. The lobby was updated and the clerk was friendly, but that’s it. The rooms were old, musty and bare bones. No hair dryer, fridge/microwave, trash can, phone… we even passed a coors light can in the doorway of an open maintenance closet on our way to our room. On top of everything, pool was under construction which was needed for my daughter. I was told by April I would get a refund (we checked out within 20 min of check-in) but when I looked at my statement, they still charged me for the first night. I have gone in circles to get it refunded to no avail. April will not return my call. Definitely would not recommend!! I wondered why it was fairly inexpensive but figured it was a golf resort so I chanced it. Drive a little further up the interstate to find something else.

For my purposes, the resort was great. However, it's sad to see that it has apparently fallen on hard times. The Legends Sports Bar has great food and atmosphere!

Overnight at LGR
Lakeview Golf Resort is going through an upgrade at the moment. The place is dated but clean. The lobby reception area has been updated and they were working on tiling of the pool area as I write this. The staff were great, big smiles polite and very helpful. I would stay here again to see the progress as it happens. This place is a goldmine if it's done right. With my son now attending WVU this could be our home away from home.

Every single thing is outdated, felt like the Shining Movie. The driveway is horrible, you get no amenities, it was as no frills as you can ever get in a hotel. It needs demoed and completely rebuilt.

Not suitable for Guests !
This hotel is currently under renovation and should not be available for guests to stay at this time . I planned a trip to stay here as a gift for my husband for our anniversary . We got married at Lakeview in 2019. This place has gone downhill since and since being bought out. We took our two children with us which I planned go swim with them while my husband golfed... both pools were closed because of renovation. Its advertised there pools but they did not even have the indoor one open. This was very disappointing as my husband planned to golf both days we were there and there was nothing for me and the kids to do.... also the hallways and rooms were soo dirty . My son is crawling and he was on the floor of our room when I spotted a dead mouse . They didn't seem to care or do anything about this . The carpet in our room also smelled like pee and the hallways looked like they had not been cleaned in years. It was downright gross . I get being under renovation to make the place better but they should yaks care of the area and rooms they are currently using for hotel guests !!

The room was fine and the facility is nice . However we were given 2 towels and no cloths for 3 ppl, no one told us both pools were under construction ( or I would’ve not booked) there was a lot of confusion with the person who checked me & out and kept asking for a 2nd card to keep on file and my room was already paid for this was also as I was checking out they tried to get me to leave another card. I think the employee didn’t know what she was doing. Other than that room was fine. Usually there’s a binder with TV info etc and there was none of that either in room.

We drove 6 hours due to traffic and arrived on 7/4 around 6:30-7pm checked in our room, and dropped our bags off to go to dinner. We arrive back to the hotel around 11pm. I had my 6 year old granddaughter and son traveling with me. The room had ants all over it, turned the bed back, there was a huge bed bug or tick in the covers. The pillows have spots all over them. The carpet is so dirty you don’t want to walk on it bare foot.. We had to wait 15 minutes to tell the front desk clerk about the issues because we had to walk over to the front desk do to the phones not working in the rooms. The TV’s don’t work either. Not to mention they have pools listed and neither of them are up and running. Once I shared with the night clerk what was going on she attempted to reach out to the GM. There was no answer. She spoke to someone else to tell them the issue, they suggested another room. I told her we rather sleep in my car. I attempted several hotels in the area, it was just too late and we were leaving the hotel by 9am 7/5 and my granddaughter was cranky. The next room had ants but not as much as the first room, and no visual signs of bed bugs or ticks. Now hear when the ignorance comes in. The morning of 7/5 I go to check out there’s another girl at the front desk. I tell her about my night and the before I can finish she says “I sent my guys over there and they fount nothing. We not giving your money back because you stayed. I showed her the picture of the bed bug in the co

Decided to stay for the weekend as we were visiting cheat lake. The hotel is very outdated. Our bed was sunken in the middle. There is ZERO info given when booking or on their website about renovations so the pools were not open. Nothing offered or shown in pictures was even close to the reality of this place. I will say thank god at least one restaurant was open on the property and the server / bartender was amazing ! She made our stay at least a little more enjoyable!

This was obviously at one rime a very nice resort. Sadly the place has been nehlected and is in a syate of disrepair. The room we syayed in had extensive water damage on the ceiling and most of the ceiling paint haf fallen on the floor and furnature. When we told yhe staff it seemed to be no big deal. All we got was an ok we will tell maintenance

The hotel looks like it was once beautiful but now they’re remodeling and the pool isn’t open and the room smells and the mirrors look like they re never been cleaned before. The girl at the front desk was fantastic…the hotel not so much.
